here's what I'm hoping.

iforcemax option: will all be auto
some other engine option: auto/manual

I'm having anxiety that I will never be able to get a manual truck again.

 

I am lol, one of the reasons I chose the AC configuration. And to fit a yz250f in the bed with the tailgate up.

 

But have you ever driven down the road and thought, ‘damn, i wish i had 700HP+ while getting 70 MPGe’ ? You know, like a lightning or R1T or Silverado EV….

the future is now, just not for Toyota apparently…

 

I own both a Pro and a Dyson.
My Dyson actually sounds better than my Pro.

 

Maybe with 700 horses you would get that gas mileage. Actual horses

Same. Part of why I went with my TRD OR DCLB configuration. Needed the longer bed (for MX bikes and camping etc) and needed the double cab since a kid was on the way (and we have a dog.) Was a little hesitant to run the DCLB since they seem a bit on the long side (and I was coming from a AC 2nd gen.) I'm used to it now though and it's not bad. But I won't be shocked if it is no longer offered in the 4th gen truck.

Yep, and recent supply chain constraints complicate the analysis. If Toyota for example sees capacity to build 120,000 trucks per year regardless of how much demand there may be, they'll adjust their offerings to build the most profitable configurations (highest selling price with lowest cost).

They misread the direction of the market and are now having to play catch up. However It is also Toyotas ethos, let other companies bring new tech to market and deal with growing pains. Toyota is conservative and waits. That’s exactly what they did with the turbos. Ford was releasing the ecoboost when the second gen was being made. A BEV Tacoma would be sweet but I would rather them take their time. At this point we’re also still in the early stages of EV sales. Ford sold less than 20,000 lightnings in 22 while they moved close to 700,000 regular f series trucks. Toyota also has invested in solid state batteries, if that tech becomes viable in the next several decades it will solve a lot of problems with traditional Lithium batteries.

Just a little longer to see the new truck that we first saw in 2021, and then again leaked out this past January.

I would’ve thought under the circumstances (we already know what it looks like), Toyota would be eager to release their own nice, corporate pics of the whole thing, asap. That way the public’s first impression of the all-new truck doesn’t continue to be all of these endless photoshopped versions of patent images.

Then tease out all the powertrain & feature details all you like b/c at this stage that’s what most people are debating anyway.

Won’t matter very soon anyway, but come on Toyota marketing dept.

I'm a former gen2 owner who's back lurking here the past few days for leaks about the 4gen taco. Good to see the forum still has lots of bickering.

I'm one of those hoping the ACLB still exists in the new model. GM has done away with that configuration and options are limited. I know I'm in the minority, but I do sleep in the bed of my truck when camping and have for decades. I have no use for 4 seats, and lots of things to haul that don't fit in a 5 foot bed. Full size trucks are too wide for me, so if the new Taco doesn't come through with a 6 foot bed I'll be stuck with my existing truck till I die.
