I’d love to have the space and power of the Tundra. But even in Texas where parallel parking is kinda rare, one trip to the airport garage in a loaner tundra cured me of that desire until I have an actual trailer to hook up to it.

An actual useful feature to add for people that use the truck as a truck would be a backup camera that still works when the tailgate is down. A little swing down bracket is all that would be needed. Like the license plate on a Subaru Baja.

I have no problem with more interior room. I just don't want the exterior to be bigger. The new GM twins managed to make the exterior bigger and the rear seat room smaller. I hope Toyota doesn't follow that model.

Didn’t Toyota do that very thing with the Tundra? I sat in the new one, it does feel smaller than the 2nd Gen. Looks a heck of a lot better, though.

https://www.newsweek.com/redesigned...abin of the 2022,the number of bed offerings.

“The cabin of the 2022 Toyota Tundra is smaller than it was in previous generations of the model, however Toyota's truck designers focused on maximizing interior space. That size was a tradeoff. The new truck's smaller cabin allowed Toyota to extend the number of bed offerings.”

Yes the 3rd gen Tundra rear seat has less space than the previous gen. So, Tundra got smaller, Tacoma gets bigger which equals same truck? lol. Further blurring the lines between full size and mid size.

There's a few articles out there about the truck evolution and shows them through the generations, and compares them to today's trucks. Eye opening. Also cool to see a new Tacoma beside a 70s F150 single cab....

Probably not far off since they are using the same chassis, judging by the teaser photos the body of the Taco is smaller but making up for the wider track with wider fender flares and positive offset wheels.

^Not the same chassis. Toyota uses the term "platform" very loosely.

The Frontier and Titan are on the same platform. The Frontier's cab and track width are smaller.

Yeah won’t be exactly the same, just about every spy shot has a fairly positive offset wheel on it.

Flares are quite a bit wider than the 3G.

Yep, those are Land Cruiser 300 wheels. Which makes wonder how much of the chassis is changed between the two. Once it is out be cool to compare part numbers, like suspension components.

Toyota is weird though, the 1st Gen Tundra, the double cab was slightly bigger than the access cab. You would think you could swap body parts between the two, but no…look at the double cabs headlights, just slightly bigger. Cab is a bit taller too. Frames are the same, but definitely different body dimensions. Bed is 3” deeper on the DC. Since they already did it with the 1G Tundra, Toyota might be doing the very same thing with the Taco and Tundra. Same chassis, just different bodies.
