unless you trade in another vehicle for a MY24, why would you get a tax break?

Right, I don't think Hybrids are eligible for tax payer funded tax rebates.

Assuming you yourself are Canadian, the Canadian Federal government will give you $5,000 for a plug-in hybrid if it can go 50 km or more on the charge, and $2500 if it can't go 50 km on a full charge.

In addition to THAT, if you live in BC, then you can get up to $4,000 for a long range hybrid and $2,000 for a short range PHEV. Except, it has to go 85 km on the battery to be considered long range. (Thus, the RAV4 Prime goes 61 km on a full charge, so it's a Long Range vehicle to the Federal Government and Short Range to the BC Government.) The other "catch" in BC is that to get the full rebate you have to have a gross income of under $80,000 in the 2022 tax year. If you made over $100,000, you get nothing. It varies for those with in-between incomes.

And both the Feds and province have limits on the MSRP of the vehicles that qualify, so a PHEV Tacoma is highly unlikely to qualify, even if it existed.

Looks like the profile of the 2024 Lexus GX. Super excited to see what they are going to do with the models.

It is like a kick in the groin to Land Cruiser fanatics…. *yawn*. Greaaaaat yet another soccer mom SUV.

What we really want is a Toyota version of the Jeep Wrangler.

The Land Cruiser owner wants a less expensive Land Cruiser.

In today’s market it might be less than a 200-300, but it won’t be cheap. I don’t consider the 100-200-300 real Land Cruisers. The 70, 80 and 105 were the last.

So what you’re saying is, the Land Cruiser crowd just wants cheaper badging, and could care less about underpinnings and styling? Not the LC guys I know…if they did Icon, FJ Company and others wouldn’t exist.

Could buy three 200s for the price of one Icon, don’t think true LC enthusiasts care about “less expensive”.

Yes the current $90k is out of touch for those with not the same funds as others and have no need for the bling in and out. The ICON is nice for those that can pay.

Maybe it is locale, see a bunch of 200s, G Wagons, Rovers running around here. So much it seems normal.

It’s simple, build a Wrangler and Bronco competitor, and price it the same…those are a dime a dozen here. Why Toyota refuses is another one of life’s great mysteries.

While I like that GX 550, it is a watered down version of the real thing.

Coworker just bought a Bronco, while no SFA, would buy that over the rebadged GX. Even my wife likes the Bronco said they did a good job on styling and loves the removable top.

Well I'm partial to SFA Land Cruisers. I was actually looking for a Tacoma but the price on this with 3x lockers was a good deal when I bought it 12 years ago and I wanted to do crawling not mudding.Ih8mud.

    I know you are.

Client of mine is a “Toyota Guy” had a 40 in his 20s, retired now and just picked another that was almost exactly like his old one. Got it for not too bad of a price, but there is a bunch of little things wrong with it that previous owner messed up. Rides like shit, can’t go over 65, etc. His neighbor has a new Wrangler, think my client is regretting his purchase of not buying modern. Mentioned how nice the Wrangler was. Have a bet with myself to see how long before he puts the 40 up for sale.

That is Toyota’s Land Cruiser target market, yet they refuse to accommodate them.

Even rusted 40's are getting top dollar still. I don't like that style. I's like a 70 series but too much to import and prices are high when sold here in the US. I'm going to keep mine for as long as I can.

Pretty sure this thing is not going to be cheap. I don't know why Toyota focus more on the bells and whistles lately instead of the hard core offroad. Some of us don't want the latest technology just a good , reliable offroad vehicle and above all, "affordable" . They should do something like the Wrangler, Jeep has the bare bones Willys which is on the low 40s and they have the highest grade with the V8 engine. I would be happy if toyota launches something like the Willys but a Toyota just like the FJ40 or FJ70 or hell even an FJ80 Just like the AUTANA Trim (bare bones), instead we will get a land cruiser that starts around 60k if not more and that pricing is out of the reach for many. Granted we still have to see what will happen with the 4runner but I doubt the 4runner will stay at the same prices that are now, so bottom line in order to get a Toyota offroad vehicle you will have to spend average 50-55k which is crazy! My .02 cents
