Daily, multiple times a day actually. But to your point, these people I'm referring to are not the ones buying brand new vehicles... so thats kinda irrelevant.

I think the hype is necessary. Its all about money at the end of the day, and their research, along with every other brand who follow the same business model must find value in the hype; otherwise, they wouldn't do it.

That's the ting those people aren't buying new vehicles. RX drugs, fastfood, and alcohol are the only products mainstream advertising is influencing people to buy. Everything else is being ignored, and cell phones.

I'm not discounting your claims, but for auto manufacturers to continue advertising, there is obviously a statistically significant outcome. Advertising at that level isn't cheap. Those decisions aren't made based on "do you think ___ or ___?" They're based on data. Data supports a significant outcome. Look around this modern world, there's no denying it. Marketing everywhere you look.

I think their data is wrong. Who are the polling the cutomer? They just blurt out, I saw an ad on TV when that most likely had no influence on their putchase. I only think like an english only speaking consumer. There maybe more influence from ads on spanish language media, but that might not do much either. I just see more advertising on spanish language programming. Just saw two ads on TV one for Volvo, and one for Lexus both CUV, I don't want a CUV.

Is that your opinion on the effects of advertising?

No, I think that, as mentioned in another comment, advertising at the level you’re talking about isn’t based on what amateurs feel. It’s a profession with data to back it up, and is taken very seriously by the companies that undertake it.

Marketing data is not at all limited to polling the customer.

and wtf are you talking about with respect to language differences?

Foreign language broadcasting has a greater presence in advertising over english language broadcasting. Those viewers spend more money, have you ever seen the advertising on foreign language outlets? Look at the little Terra Pro clip where the paint is mole sauce.

Those viewers spend more money? What? Advertising money is spent because advertising works. Even if you speak English natively.

Households who identify as predominantly spanish speaking spend more on goods and services that are advertised, than households that identify as predominantly english speaking. Follow the advertising dollars and that's what you will see.

How will I know what truck to buy? I like that chevy ad where the HD is pulling a trailer with a rock crawling buggy, a SXS, and a trophy truck.

My bet is that ads work on English audiences, also. Follow the money, after all

Look at AB inBev and their hyped up controversy to black ball bud light, so they could put their Casa Modelo Mexican Beer at #1 sold. Why? Modelo costs more than Bud Light.

Advertising works on English audiences, Spanish speaking audiences, and even you.

that’s why Toyota is buying ad space
