Everyone also hated the gen 3 at launch. Thought it was the ugliest thing they have every seen, and that Toyota didn't do enough changes.

 

Toyota's NA market truck are all geographical/landscape inspired names. I think Tacoma, was inspired by Ranger with a more yuppie friendly sound to it. With Tundra and Sequoia following suit.

Not that there was much competition then, there wasn't much changed from 2nd to 3rd gen.

#2 real world. I had a Bronco Wildtrak ordered, build date was a never-ending wait. I almost cancelled when the 4G Tacoma was shown. Then the GX550 and then LC 250 was shown and I did cancel the Bronco and got my deposit back. I’ve rolled my deposit into a refundable deposit to be in line for each of those and am thinking of throwing my name on the 4G list as well.

As a side note, Ford still thinks the Bronco is mine and sent me an email that it was on the factory floor. It’s still on the floor due to the strike. I suspect the dealer is holding onto the fact I canceled it so that they get it as an inventory vehicle when it does get built. They can have it.

 

So who’s putting their truck back to stock to use the money for a down payment for a 4th gen? Or is the plan to use the money to buy things as they become available, like screen protector, bed mat and other stuff?

I’m going to miss my footwell lights and puddle pods till they come out for the 4th gen’s…

Those body lines, it looks terrible in some trims and colors and fine in others.

 

I'm a fan of silver, but that looks like garbage IMO. Non metallic paint seems to be the way to go, or dark at least.

Waste off money advertising for a truck during the NFL. Many people watching will be too drunk to remember what they saw. Toyota sells every Tacoma they build there's no need to advertise at all.

 

I thought that was a Tundra, I didn't pay attention to it at first.

 

And imho the wrong target market. The 3rd gen they went heavy towards my demographic (younger millennials, etc. and their “extreme” hobbies) still remember going to the auto show with a pair of Yamaha YZ450fs in the back. Most football guys are driving 1/2 tons. Tacomas are the mountain biking, dirt bike riding, camping, overlanding crowd.
