Cool. I’m going to put a tractor seat like this in my truck.

I think I'd get disgusted of explaining their purpose every time someone asked...

He already knows they'd need no introduction, being groundbreaking technology and all.

Sometimes I wonder why Toyota and other manufacturers don't redesign a real throwback vehicle body style like a first gen just with modern creature comforts and materials.... Maybe I'm just getting old.

I think it would be cool to be able to own a brand new first gen styled truck just with modern features that are available today

Because it would never pass crash tests today. So all the design language you like will get ripped apart for crashworthiness and look stupid.

and size is partially CAFE standards and partially American tastes/bodies

IsoDynamic has people talking & debating, and that’s the buzz that Toyota really wanted.

It appears to be optional on what is currently their most expensive trim, so obviously they weren’t gunning for mass appeal, but if OR/Sport/SR5 customers start swapping them (like Gen3 Pro grills), you can bet they’ll offer them later on lower trims.

Not my personal cup of tea, but I credit Toyota for at least being imaginative. Should note that GM’s most creative idea in their truck cab was deleting the headlight switch…

Was at the local 'Yota dealer today picking up an alternator for my '09.

They had SR5 CrewMax Tundras on the lot for $55,000.

If you can get a Tundy for 55k, where will that put the Taco, I wonder.

A mid-range Tundra is just more truck than a top-of-the-line Tacoma, no matter how you slice the apple.

Have been to a few dealers in different states (AZ TX TN and SC) within the last couple of weeks and they all had parking lots full of new vehicles.

Even on the Big Island they've got half a parking lot full and that says something!

Most everything out there with air and suspension seats has all solid axels and is leaf sprung. The new Tacoma Pro is IFS and 4 link rear with coil springs all the way around. The iso-seat is rather redundant. Unless Toyota does not think the new Tacoma rides that great to begin with.

If you are 6' 2" would a mid-size truck be your first choice?

    upload_2023-10-20_13-38-13.png

I'm 6' 0", my seat would be slightly further forward so the back seat passenger would have slightly more room (especially if that passenger was < 6' 2" 300lb). Also, more than likely the shotgun passenger would be closer to "average" (5' 9") so the passenger behind them would have lots of room.

Most of the time, I am the only one in my truck. Frequently I have one passenger. Occasionally there are two passengers. Back seater never sits behind me. Three pax? Almost never.

If you or your regular passengers are bid dudes, you should be looking at big(ger) trucks.
