I think some people are this way but while I enjoy driving a manual transmission I certainly don’t advertise the fact that my Tacoma is a manual.

I really like my Tacoma. But I would have just kept my Sierra 1500 if I wanted an automatic. It had a lot more features and more power and about the same gas mileage.

I think it’s great that Toyota still offers a manual, but I seriously doubt they will for the 4th gen which is why I purchased my 2022. It just doesn’t make any business sense because so few of us buy them.

Isn't the current 2.7 a carry over already?

“I don’t advertise that mine is a manual” (whoops just did also it’s in my signature). Isn’t there a 600+ page manual thread where y’all can circle jerk each other?

They made big changes to the tundra and that was a dud.

They made big changes to the MR2 mkII, and it was one of the best cars ever made.

they made big changes to the MR2 mkIII. And it was love it it hate it.

they made big changes to the Tacoma 2nd gen and it was their best truck since the 1980s.

they made big changes to the Celica and ruined it and canceled the entire line.

It’s just a hit or miss with Toyota. It’s a hit or miss with all car companies really.

group think. Ego maniacs. Who knows why this happens?

I'm talking about the v6 , if the 2.7 is that old it definitely needs to go

I drive manual because I don’t like automatics. I finally bought one (GX460) for the first time in my life. It’s great, but after 22 years of only driving manual, it still feels like something is missing.

I have manual 2020 Corolla as well. I feel like Toyota just ruined whole experience.

who asked for automatic rev match? Who asked for an automatic electronic e-brake?

I was driving this in San Francisco recently, and I was scared for my life. I couldn’t figure out what I was supposed to do going uphills. What genius decided that driving manual without a ebrake handle was a good idea?

If the new Tacoma has an electronic ebrake or rev matching. I’ll still buy it. I’ll just be very upset.

Pretty sure the reason they are changing the engines has to do with emissions. That's why they ditched the v8 and that's why they are going to a turbo 4cyl.
I have seen so many videos with ppl that have so called insiders and none have said they are keeping the v6. If they do , fine then I will believe the one guy over everyone else moving forward.

Kindly disagree - 2.7 L4 needs to stay as a base engine for the lower trims. The engine is a very reliable and with low maintanence. Not everyone needs 300 HP engine with complicated turbo or other electronics.

They don't have any other options? They could always use a tuned down version of the new one . If they are using a 10 spd transmission the 2.7 might not even pair well either .

I don't really agree with that statement.... a few bad apples and all that.... but that is a funny meme for sure lol.

On topic, I really pushed to buy my '23 MT under the assumption it would be the last year for them, so I'll be very curious to see if they actually release a '24 MT.

after driving the 2020 Corolla MT for a while, I’d be suspicious of a Toyota MT going forward.

It won’t be like the Bronco MT. Toyota ruined the MT with electronics

You aren’t a true manual bro if you don’t have a “MT” in your signature.

Emission, partly yes, but truth be told, the demise of the six has more to do with cost cutting and profits than emissions. Emission being the perfect pretext.
A six shooter engine has more parts, expensive parts. Injectors, rods, pistons, bearings, valves, spark plugs, coils and on etc.etc. If you price a six vs a four, you’ll normally pay more.

Point being, it’s cheaper to add a mass produced turbo to a four, save a few bucks and charge more for the few extra ponies, pocket the extra change.

Sounds cruel, but it is what it is

True. They definitely have some home runs. I'm hot and cold on their new Supra. Love the looks but not happy about the BMW DNA.
Also I noticed last few years especially with Camry and Carolla they are going for very "bold" designs.

Baffled by the assortment of thier new crossover / suv /car models as they seem to overlap. But there must be a method to the madness :goingcrazy:
