I just watched the latest Truck King video. Toyota only sold 16K Tacomas in Canada last year. That’s why they don’t give a shit about giving you a bunch of packages to choose from or making the Canadian website a priority.

It’s only one data point, but awd CX5 (2019, 70k+) . The turbo 2.5 has been reliable for me and there are virtually no widespread issues with it from the internet gossip machine.

with a few changes for truck duty, I don’t see why a turbo 4 couldn’t do the same for a tacoma. GM seems to be doing well with the 2.7 for several years, too

Dude, 70K is nothing. No vehicle should have any issues with that low of mileage. Add another 100K to that and get back to us.

You do realize this stems from past experiences people have had with domestics? And yes I'm sure there are toyota examples but there are far less until the new Tundra. But tundra still sold a crap ton by their standards

 

Canada has roughly 11-12% the population of the US.
