Interest rates are paced to inflation. Canada is still seeing Third World inflation rates.

It's not just major mechanical failures. I have limited experience with Chevys and Fords but I notice the interiors look good/okay when new but after 5-6 years the trim is dated/faded/worn-out. Maybe the owners don't take care of their vehicles but I'm just not impressed with the long term quality.

Our 2 cheapest options right now in Canada .The "configuration" page definitely has issues. I would definitely need to see what features they include before pulling the trigger at all.

A lot nicer than the 2012 Tahoe I used to drive, which admittedly was not driven gently.

I just had my 4Runner inspected by some off-road experts. They said my 2016 was still basically new. It’s getting new brakes next week but I will not be selling it anytime soon.

Friends and coworkers with Hyundai are on their third engine already. One guy in my off-road club with a Silverado is on his second transmission. Another one bought a Ram 1500 Rebel after his Tacoma got stolen, and discovered the air suspension didn't work in the cold. My father's Dodge Caravan had brake problems driving off the dealer's lot. Later the transmission gave out 10k past the powertrain warranty.

Toyotas always get a hole in the driver’s seat bottom left side bolster. All of mine have done it, plus they develop rattles. My 3rd Gen just rolled 44K miles, getting a rattle in the dome light bezel, dash is starting rattle. Door panels, gauge cluster, shift lever bezel scratches super easy. Even my wife commented on all the scratches, while my other Toyotas didn’t, scratch as easily. Barely touch the gauge cluster plastic to wipe the dust off, scratched to hell. Do know there are films to put over it, but shouldn’t have to. These things are trucks and should be a bit more durable.

No no. You must be confused. Your Toyota is perfect. GM, Ford suck the big one.

That’s why you think American vehicles suck? Those items wear out on all vehicles.

I know reading is hard , I said they wear out way faster then a toyota . When I worked in a shop I saw fords, dodges and Chevs needing work at 60k . Toyota front ends were still tight at 80k . Also take a look at the drive shaft on a taco , Toyota over engineers their product

You worked in a shop? Weren’t you the guy that couldn’t remove a bed bolt?
In regards to driveshafts my two XJ Cherokees never needed any driveshaft work but my Tacoma needed it’s replaced so I’m calling BS on that. Same with wheel bearings. Never changed one in my life until I got this Tacoma.

If we’re being intellectually honest, a ‘24 Tacoma and ‘24 Colorado’s engineering teams are both based in Detroit (they probably play pickle ball together on weekends), both trucks now have domestic turbo four cylinders (one assembled in Tennessee, the other Alabama), both source parts from domestic suppliers, and one is manufactured in Wentzville, the other in Mexico.

I’d still bet on the Toyota, but certainly the quality/reliability gap moving forward is a lot more narrow than a 1995 Tacoma vs S10, and probably also a lot narrower than a Gen3 versus ‘22 Colorado. So if the Chevy/GMC looks better, makes 430ftlb vs 317, and now costs a lot less, I respect anyone who leans that direction.

lol! While I am not abusive, do use it and feel like I have to be extra careful not to scratch the interior pieces. First time I went to wipe the dust off the gauge cluster with a microfiber towel like I have always done in my other trucks, scrrrrrraaaaatch! Oh fuuuuuuck this is a new truck! Oh well, first scratch is always the hardest.

Little disappointed with the plastic quality compared to my old truck, especially for how much I paid. There are certain parts that they definitely cheaped out on.

There was a rash of lower ball joint failures on early 2000s on Tacoma, 4Runner, Sequoia, and Tundra.

I'm thinking that this whole G4 thing is all about patience. 50% of it is timing the market, the other 50% is the whole "Pioneers get the arrows, settlers get the land." thing.
