Exactly. That’s where the plug in hybrid comes in. You can charge a small battery designed to take you only 50 miles on a 110 outlet over night for next day average work commute. Then, drive nearly 600 miles like a regular hybrid getting 30-50 mpg depending on the vehicle for trips. You never have to be tied to use of a charging station…..just home iver night.

Toyota says they’ll offer them in EVERY MODEL THEY MAKE. WEO.

Toyota is just biding their time till solid state batteries ( or other) come out and charging can be done more easily on a common 110 outlet. Then we fk the charging stations…..they’ll be for trucks. But it will be a looooong time till we all climb on board.

I had a non-plug in Prius and that thing saved me a lot of money. Can go from SF to PHX and just have to fill up once.

Yup. I’m / we’re keeping our Tacoma and Venza till the hybrid version of each ( Venza is now) is available and cheapo enough.

Exactly, unless they are hauling while off roading, they make great and supper efficient off roaders as EVs.

One day in the near future there will be a speaker made in China to replicate the Fart Can sound of Honda's and VWs of the past......Ebay Special. Good bye sweet sweet music of internal combustions....

My wife's model y dropped maybe 15% with temperatures down in the 20s compared to the summer. My Tacoma does way worse on my short work commute. She gets about 300 miles on a charge in the winter.

30% of the cars I see or hear on the road around here are still running Fart Cans. I hear that shit all Friday and Saturday night long.

A study was reciently done involving 40,000 vehicles. They looked at the total emissions out in the mining and manufacturing of a Toyota Corolla and a Model 3.

Initially the model 3 was higher due to manufacturing but it was lower in driving. So with enough time, the Corolla does catch up and output higher emissions. So the question is, how much? How long would it take for an EV to have lower emissions than an internal combustion vehicle? 500,000 miles? 1,000,000 miles?

This depends on how you get your power. With Coal being the worst and sources like hydroelectric being the best it would take,

8000 miles of driving on hydroelectric sources. 80,000 for coal, but for the average American, it's 12,000 miles There are lots of valid reasons not to get an EV but environmental impact isn't one of them.

Baltimore MD. I swear there are more fart cans on the road now than there was in 1997.

Lots of back firing cars too.

I live in northern, VA. There are a ton here too. It's either a lifted truck/jeep with VET tags or a piece of shit car with cut springs. Why does everyone think they have a race car?

:notsure: I think it's mostly Civics here. What ever it is I hear back firing sounds like it's going to break .

Like stealthmode said I guess they will have to get a speaker when they go electric.

    Updates to come...
4th gen taco looks like a mini Tundra... (sorry, couldn't help myself)

Will be interesting to see how they work in the wild. I still question a truck like a Taco (or FJ as well in this case) as full EV and practicality of overlanding. Time will tell - maybe I'm just an "old soul"

As far as looks - I think it looks great (then again, I'm one of the few that really likes the new design language for Yota trucks). Curious to see what happens in the SUV lineup (non-ev in this case) (4R and Sequoia).
