Turbos just add more (unnecessary) complexity to an ICE and its too late in the carbon game for this approach to have any staying power IMO. My '19 Tacoma was the last ICE-only vehicle I will ever purchase. Everything from here forward will be hybrid; PHEV; or full electric. I am keen to see what the electrified Tacomas have to offer, for sure.

Looks like LC 300 GR wheels on it.

Yup, I was wondering where I saw them before. I'm not a fan of them on either vehicle. I was thinking it was just how the wheels looked on the rendering.

I can not forsee any US Toyota truck fans going for this look.

Glad I got one before they destroyed the front end of it like they did the tundra...

That might be an efficient design and actually work well. Kind of looks like 5lug 2nd gen, but the 5lug looks better. I kept trying to recall when Toyota made a 6lug Highlander, as that's where I thought Toyota sourced those wheels.

Another step toward the domestic truck design ques, like the Tundra and the very high positive offset oem wheels. I guess Toyota never really built trucks with lower offset wheels, but they sure look great on the 1st gen Tacoma and 3rd gen 4Runner. Something the aftermarket can adress. But why not build the trucks to spec to run a lower offset wheel to start with, more wheel well clearance, and suspension components that can handle the added stress?

Yes it's uglier than even the 2016-2021 TRD Sport wheel:

Lol the g4 taco is a joke. It will have 8 less horse power then a g3 cost 12% more, and won't have the trail aspects down.

I would rather have the 8 less horse power and about 50 more pound ft of torque.

But I do agree with you that the next gen should have more horsepower, and there's no excuse for that.

As far as the 12% more cost that's inflation for you and it's everywhere unfortunately, not just a toyota/Tacoma thing.

What do you mean it won't have the trail aspects down?

The more that I see these shots, the more that I think it is the 6th Gen 4Runner mule, esp with that match to those fugly wheels. The rear box is there to throw off the scent. No ACSB Taco. Credit to whoever first posted that idea.

The driveline and suspension will likely be the same between them. So a mule makes a lot of sense here. They could ballast the bed to resemble the curb weight and loading of either.

Also, the current ACLB has way more rear room than any of other midsize pickups. It would be crazy for Toyota to shrink that, IMHO.

My guess here is that the 4Runner front clip styling might be under that camo?

Hmmm….could be! Like what Ford was doing with the Bronco mule.

    Yep!

I was a bit lusty for the extended cab Ranger before I bought the Taco. Since I have seen them IRL and laughed at the room back there. Similar with the Frontiers, but they have a bit more space. People can actually ride in the back of mine and is much larger in comparison.

Almost bought Ranger instead too. Like how Ford does their a la carte options. Could get a base model with a rear seat delete (for storage bins) and a locker. Rarely haul people….though for some odd reason have recently, was nice to have the option to do that. Was going to pull the rear seats, decided to keep them.

Didn’t like the interior of the Ranger either.

Yeah. Ford does do options a lot better. But beyond that, every bit of info that dropped since I bought the Taco as only confirmed the decision.
