Gosh, was thinking of selling my 2.5 Gen and get into a 4th Gen. But after reading this 4th Gen nothing but issues thread, thinking I better wait a year or two.

I kinda doubt you’ll sell the 2015 Taco. How about a pic of it?

Do what makes you feel good but consider some math (statistics) with the link below.

    https://www.goodcarbadcar.net/toyota-tacoma-sales-figures/

    A
s I type 170,000+ gen 4 have been sold. You can calculate how many have had the TSBs with production well past now. Those are a few thousand. You can look at NTSB data to see the one recall is for a sticker misprint and complaints typical. Forum complaints are maybe a few dozen people.

By the numbers, it is not a lemon or problematic vehicle. More to support that would be how unchanged the 2025 is. I'd be embarrassed if I lived and reacted to nonsense and fear like that but understand it is hard when someone has a pretty small comfort zone.

Something else that gave me confidence is Toyota still stands behind their products well. Other brands in our company fleet and that associates have are not so good.

If you look at who's trashing the 4th gen Tacoma, they drive 2nd and 3rd gens.

Maybe there really is voodoo or magic. When we got our 2015 Toyota a loud part of the Internet and auto pundits were convinced it was horrible. It had few problems, Toyota stood behind it, and 9 years later it had extremely high resale with lots of people and dealers wanting it.

As an owner of prior back to 1990s, I'll say my comments are fair. Maybe they're just ornery from my strong memories. I recall poor seating positions plus less comfy seats. The much louder, not as planted on the highway. Then there's how my new rig holds speed and climbs well where I used to be slow or listen to it scream in pain. IIHS top safety pick and better fuel economy are nice. Same for superior headlights and fog lights.

My past vehicles were for sure fine among peers in their day but my 4th gen is a big improvement so far.

IIHS top safety pick. I had the unfortunate experience of losing a family member in a crash not his fault where the Ford Ranger was a crumbled and twisted mess matching his mashed up body.

My pickup is mostly a work and task vehicle. That makes the long bed option really stand out. The 6 ft 2 inch bed makes even full size often with 5.5 ft beds no good.

    I got burned & jumped back-in w/o hesitation...
Bronze frustrates me as he feels waiting for a 25 is going to be soooo much better, same truck...
But folks need to do what best for them, mentally....

Me coming from the ford brand as been a ford engine tech for 32 years...
Kinda concerns me, but looking at the various brands & products out there, im completely stoked with the new tacoma...

Would be nice to have a new Lexus IS350 too....:D

They’re not Chevrolets or fords is a huge part of it for me.

I went and drove the Colorado zr2 and between the excessive engine noise, infotainment nonsense, leaf spring rear, semi cloth seats, and general motorsness, i went directly to Toyota for an OR Tacoma instead.

    I agree on the Tundra.

The Tacoma transmission fuck up was stupid, but if it was actually contained as quickly as it appears, then the jury is still out.

Like the past couple of Tacoma generations, time and mileage has to accrue before the true picture emerges.

The information I found online was that the cause transmission issues were a casting issue by one of Toyota suppliers from Japan. Can anybody confirm this?
I would also say the people trashing the Tacoma are the supposed online YouTube car experts buy a car every 3 months for content and lead with ridiculous titles like Toyota is done for or the bottom is falling out of the car market. Just completely manufacturing for clicks.
