Hello members. Would like to know your thoughts on the 2024 4th generation cab size:

-Will Toyota upsize the current exterior dimensions, keep them the same or go slightly smaller?
-What would be your personal preference?

I believe I read where it will share the same platform/frame as the new Tundra. I don’t have a link to support my claim.

I agree. A bit smaller would be nice.

I would bet actual money that the 4th Gen is going to be pretty damn close to the current Hi-Lux size and styling. It is going to look more like a Ranger / Ridgeline than a 3rd Gen / Frontier.

    Just my guess.

They can increase visibility and aerodynamics without making everything round.

They just finally fixed the rav4 so it's not so gawd damned cute, I hope they don't turn around and do the opposite on the Taco.

Personally, they would do well to adopt the Nissan Frontier dimensions.

A smaller alternative to the Tacoma & 4runner would be nice. Bring back the basic five lug, regular cab, torsion bar suspension etc, keep it simple.

I have some old pictures of my '88 4runner, it's pretty incredible where I took it off-road in stock form. Easily the best utility of any vehicle I've owned too.

I'm going to place doubt on them going smaller, at least in the North American market. While there's a good argument to be made for it, we're talking about a period of time where many brands are dropping anything smaller than an SUV because no one is buying them. Soccer moms and dads everywhere are upgrading from minivans to Escalade's or Escalade sized vehicles, so everyone can see them and think "gosh, I wish I had space for 19 people in my car".

I have been wanting to Photoshop a 2nd Gen over laid with a 3rd gen. I am not sure the front lip is much taller (yeah, any little bit makes a difference at that angle), but I think just the grille size, going lower changes the perspective of size?

This is my first pickup. The view over the hood seemed like it was going to be a problem, but never has caused a real problem.

I do agree that better sight lines are always good. I generally don't like how it is done in most SUVs with tall seat and big greenhouses.

It's true. The trend across all brands has been bigger & more powerful. With fuel this cheap it's only going to continue in that direction.

The Canadian market is different, we like our compacts but we're such a small market that we pretty much only get what's available in the US. We still get some unique stuff, I'm really hoping Suzuki makes a comeback here.

The Canadian market should have been smart and stocked up on so many 1992 FJ80's they could still be selling them today. There's so much epic backcountry.

No reason Toyota shouldn't offer the 70 series here atleast. I'd love to buy a truck that I could realistically hang onto for 30 years, even if it was $70k.
