And its cute watching 4th gen owners shelling out 60K for a 4 banger landscape truck when they could get a full size.

Meltdown? Everything I've seen from the Gen 4 so far has caused the Gen 3 prices to skyrocket. Gen 3 owners are sitting on gold mines.

So more cylinders and less power means it's a better truck?

I guess it can't be a mid sized truck without a V6! :notsure:

No it means more cost and maintenance. Read the reviews on the cost of trucks these days. 60K for added turbo all the electronics such as screens and hybrid ? Go for it. Fix that thing 8 years plus out and get back with us.
Ask yourself do you really need all of that ?

Well being an adult means dealing with adult things. Like fixing and maintaining a modern vehicle in the future. Even EV's with 1,000 less moving parts need maintenance. Easy solution is to not buy it and buy an older vehicle.

To this add: worse turning radius; smaller gas tank; basically same MPG. Toyota really blew the hybrid IMO.

What does being an adult have to do with anything here ? Ridiculous comment.

Well buying an older vehicle is gonna have even more maintenance soooo yea...

The 2.4 turbo has no extra maintenance items verses the outgoing 3.5. Change fluids and filters regularly like usual.

Seems that's the better option for some odd reason. (maybe not having to admit you have a 4cyl truck?)

I normally don't get into the whole turbo 4 vs V6 thing as there's just no middle ground it seems. I for one like the extra power and economy so I guess I'll have to leave it at that.

I did a brief recon of my local Toyota dealer in the Reading, PA area, and there were 3 Tacoma's, all white, double-cabs, automatic transmissions and all in the low to mid-$40K range. Probably 10 to 12 Tundra's, all just under $70K. They do not seem to be flying off the lot.

Turbo is an extra maintenance item as well as the screen displays which are expensive. Turbos will need replacement. I should have said repairs. You can swap out a radio but that imax is a different issue. I knew a guy that it went out in his Explorer and it was big money to replace. That screen will look like a flintstone in 10 years if that and you are stuck with it.
Add hybrid to the list also.

Very rarely does a turbo go out. Plenty of old turbo'd vehicles in the junkyard with the original turbo, and those weren't even water cooled like modern turbo's. Modern turbo's will live a long life as long as you change the oil like you're supposed to. I'm betting pre-mature failures are from lack of oil/coolant changes.

Think the hybrid area will be maintenance free also ?

No, but look at the millions of Toyota hybrid's humming around with no issues at all at high miles :notsure:

They should just close all the Toyota repair centers.

Toyota actually has the most hybrid vehicles on the planet. I don't recall any recall on the hybrid system and batteries.

Not where I was getting at. Any vehicle is going to need repairs along the way, no matter the brand.

Toyota has been manufacturing hybrids for 27 years. My in-laws just bought their third one, their two previous Prius' had over 300,000 miles. I think it'll be fine. If you're so scared of "new" technology just keep your 3rd gen.
