i have a 96 tacoma and the a.d.d. doesn't lock in and the 4x4 light never comes on. it has the manual shift lever. if i switch the 2 vaccum hoses in the drivers side fenderwell around, it locks in fine. im just really tired of having to get out and switch it manually. the 4x4 fuse is good. my guess is that there is a switch that should get pressed when i move the 4x4 shift lever, but i have no idea where to find it and the manual i have is no help at all. thanks for your time

If memory serves me correctly , the vacuum switch is on top of the transfer case . The line is common for plugging with junk . easy to check and may get you on your way .
Have also seen the switch on top of the transfer case get stuck . Take it off and give it a lube

Mine had the same issue and I just bypassed the 4WD actuator and it works fine.

Mine has gotten stuck from lack of use in the past, and a light smacking with a hammer has unstuck it. The actuator, I mean.

Thanks everyone. As soon as the ground dries up, I'll find the switch and clean it. That's got to be the problem
