4wd conversion. Need help please.

    I bolted up the bell housing completely first, with the torque converter completely seated and filled with a quart of fluid, before bolting to the flex plate. Everything was tightened through the inspection plate 1 bolt at a time in a criss cross pattern.

    113k on the swap, not a single issue.

    If that torque converter is sitting truly flush, the only "high" spots will be where the flex plate and torque converter mount together. Same way you take it off, 1 bolt at a time in a criss cross pattern.

    Gotta test fit the converter into the pilot hole first . The pilot hole almost always needs emery cloth and a light coat of grease for the converter to pull into the crankshaft
    The hole in the crankshaft keeps the converter running true

    That may be the difference, while i had it apart, wire wheeled the contact spots an dabs of antiseize for good measure. Good info :thumbsup:

    OK , thought they were studs on this application . He doesnt have to loosen the bellhousing , but he will need to gently draw the converter into the pilot hole by spinning the motor by hand

    I did it the same way. I was able to push the bell housing all the way flush with the block before putting bolts in. So I didn’t need the bolts to pull it tight. I assume it’s fine since I’m about 50,000 miles since my conversion.

    I hope I didn't damage anything but I got it in. It's windy as heck out here nd cold. Lol but it's in. Tmrw I send my drive shaft in to get shortened. I can't wait to test it out. It will be my first time ever driving a 4x4 car lol I'm excited.

    You're out here in SoCal right? If you're free one of these weekends let me know, tons of 4x4 trails around us to try it out on. I try to make it out at least a couple times a month. Doing Pilot Rock trail up through Lake Arrowhead on Saturday.

    Yessir. Rowher Flats and Drinkwater Flats are out near Santa Clarita, maybe an hour from here and are good trails to get familiar with 4wd on. I'll message you my # in a bit here

    Big Bear is one of my favorite places to wheel, White Mountain and Gold Mountain are a ton of fun (definitely want sliders/steel skids for Gold Mountain).

    Pilot Rock actually starts out near Cleghorn and goes up to Lake Arrowhead which I'm doing Saturday, should be fun. We'll definitely have to head out soon

    So my swap is complete but I'm having some issues with my shifter. It got stuck in 4 hi and I can't get it out of 4 hi like phisicly able to shit back I to 2hi. This ever happen to anyone?

    Are you sure you have the shifter placed in the proper position ? There is a square hole that the shifter fits into that allows movement of both shifter forks . Sometimes , guys accidently put the shifter into the transfer case while the transfer case is already in gear . The transfer case needs to be in nuetral when placing the shifter back into position

    My forks are stuck and won't move. I have the vacume line disconnected when I tried it. Could that be an issue?

    Connecting the line wont help your issue . Did you get that case for a good deal ? It has mechanical issues .
