No, 4x4 Double Cab can only be had with the 4.0L V6 and a 5 speed auto or 6 speed manual (Short Bed Only).

You don't want the 2.7L 4 cyl in a double cab anyway, very underpowered.

Thank you for answering my question! I do want a 2.7 in a double cab :) I live in the Yukon, no freeways or merging here. Just miles of marginally serviced gravel roads. My daily driver for over 25 years is 1981 4wd with 22r. Probably similar power to weight. And my highway vehicle is 1989 4Runner 22re automatic, not overpowered either.

You’ll have to settle for a PreRunner.
    2WD on 4WD frame.

Guys have converted them. But that’s a lot of work. And why? On 2.7, not worth it.

Best advice is throw in TrueTrac and send it. Send it hard. :mudding:

Well you could get a 2.7L in a DCSB 2wd Auto but that's the only configuration as far as I know and it was not a very common configuration.

Just get a 4.0L, it's just as reliable as the 2.7L and the difference in fuel mileage isn't that much. Also way more configuration options from base to TRD Sport/OffRoad/Pro.

Maybe start looking at JDM Hilux imports, @lledwod?

I came from a 1986 single cab 4x4 5-speed manual. When I started looking for a newer truck, I REALLY wanted the same thing you're looking for, but found it doesn't exist. I decided that the extra cab space in the DC was worth going with the larger motor and auto transmission, and I'm glad I did. This truck has been awesome.

You talk of a dream truck.....the 2.7l 4 cylinder and manual 5 speed is an amazing combination!
