    Work in progress...
Maybe someone removed the front drive shaft when they installed the lift? Back in the days that was fairly common.

    Disable the TCS.

I got stuck off-road in snow, TCS was freaking out. Turned it off, worked like a normal 4wd would.

He would’ve definitely heard if he snapped a CV. Also looks like he doesn’t spend too much time off-road.

    The traction control thing.

Looks like a truck with little slippery lines coming out of the tires. Button should be on your overhead area where the MTS selector is. It's basically the system that cuts power to prevent slipping and whatnot. Don't qoute as I'm sure I'm not fully correct but any time I go off-road I turn that off otherwise I will "get stuck" in a patch of loose dirt.

You meant TC. It’s actually very useful in 95% of the time when off-road, much better than just a simple open diff. In some snow or sand situations TC has to be fully turned off in order to get momentum.

Put it in 4wd and park it. Get under and spin the front driveshaft. If it spins by hand somethings wrong. If it doesnt spin by hand then 4x4 is engaged. Don’t listen to anyone blaming it on your tires or your lift. People on tacomaworld are delusional

Not exactly. If only one of the two actuators is engaged your driveshaft won't spin by hand but yet you "won't have 4wd".

I do think OP has everything working fine and just doesn't know what to expect/look for.

This only tests the function of 1 actuator... if only one is working, the shaft will not spin. In order to verify if both are working correctly, you need to lift one front wheel while in 4wd and see if it spins free... it it does then 4wd is not engaging... if it will not spin free then it is locked into 4wd.

Without preforming this simple test, we can not help you with further diagnostics of your drive system. This is a basic test for functionality of the 4x4 system. Basically if the wheel does not spin in 4wd, the system is working correctly. If the wheel spins in 4wd then you have an issue and we can move on from there...
