So.. my 2017 SR5 has an issue when I put it in 4 hi. It has a hard time moving as if the breaks are stuck, but once I put back on 2wd it’s fine. Anyone experiencing this issue

If the breaks are stuck then something is already broken. I use brakes to stop my truck.

Is your 4WD indicator light flashing??

What is the method you are using to engage 4WD?

Are you turning on dry pavement with 4wd on? It will cause binding and you can break all kinds of stuff

That would be the only reason other than something is seriously wrong when on a dirt road or ice/snow.

OP, ummm.... you sure you aren't going into 4LO? The lower gearing could make you think "it has a hard time moving".

If something was broken... you'd know. There'd be other symptoms.

Different size tires, or one or more lower than the rest, can cause the symptoms.

How often do you engage 4WD? When I picked up my truck a few years ago (used and sitting about 4 months before I bought it), my 4WD was very hard to engage. After cycling a few times, it smoothed out. I turn on (4hi, 4Lo on dirt roads) once a month to make sure things shift as they should.

I noticed selecting 4wd on my old gen1 tundra could be somewhat of an issue if i didn't use it for months. It was always on the clunky side engaging, and disengaging. These gen3 tacoma 4wd systems are slicker than goose chit on a wet lawn. Mine is immediate in 4wd hi, or low when switched...same when disengaging. I just make sure to use it a few miles a month.
