4wd light

Durning last snow here in Va. When switching from 2hto4h light telling you not in 4h keeps flashing on my 2009 Tacoma.Have never had it not go into 4wd before.What do I need to do?

 

Did your truck actually go into 4hi?

Sounds like your add on the front is going bad. Mine was locked in 4hi with all the lights blinking. Replaced the add and the switch still locked in. Next thing I'm replacing the ecu

 

not totally sure I'm understanding.

what speed were you moving when you tried to switch to 4H if you were moving at all? you must be going under a certain speed (58mph or something) for it to switch, else it will blink and beep at you and never go into 4H until your speed drops.

 

The only time the 4x4 light on the dash illuminates is when the front axle is in the 4x4 position .
That being said , chances are the front actuator has issues . Check out the thread below for details

I was stopped completely before switching it into 4hi. Then went I went to switch back to 2 at a slow roll it just flashed and was still engaged and hasn' come out since. Add on front and switch have bee. Replaced on mine. Still in 4 hi

 

I was parked when tried to go from h2 to h4 the light is blinking for 4wd but not in h4, when return to h2 the flashing in 4wd symbol goes out if try again to go into h4 the in h4 symbol still flashes.Again I am trying to go from h2 to h4 to put truck into 4wd.I have never had a problem before on my 2009 Tacoma only have 80,000 miles on it,mostly on road.

 

I have the problem of my 4 wheel drive figured out. After replacing the switch. And front add actuator. Instead of buying a new or used transfer case actuator I'm buying a whole t case for 350
