So a few of you told me I should drive about 10 miles a month in 4wd to it will keep the system lubed up.

But I noticed some people saying it should be a straight line, with no turns.

Is there a speed limit for when we do the 10 miles??

I drive on a freeway to work everyday, so can I just pop it in 4wd, drive 10 miles and then go back to 2wd??

You can drop it into 4wd up to about 60 mph. Then whatever speed you choose.

You can drive it on dry pavement in a straight line. Do not take turns on dry pavement in 4wd unless you like spending lots of money replacing expensive driveline parts.

The manual and the visor sticker have the details on how/when to operate the part-time 4wd.

    1. Its fine to drive in a straight line in dry pavement.

    2. I don't think it's needs to be 10 miles//month. Just drive up the street occationally in 4x4.

    3. If you TURN on dry pavement you'll find out real quick why it's bad. Basically one of the tires needs to rotate more slowly when turning since the outside tire is traveling further than the inside one. 4wd effectively prevents that from happening when you have good tire traction (read dry pavement). It will make a terrible chipping sound and the outside tire will sort of bounce. It's bad. Don't try it.
