I have a 2004 tacoma push button 4wd, looking to replace the transfer case or the transfer case actuator. Which is easier and or cheaper?

Are you certain that the transfer case or actuator are your problem?

Have you done any actual troubleshooting? Check wiring first?

    1. Does the diff(ADD on this year?) or tcase/actuator attempt to function, can you hear it?
    2. Check fuses related to 4wd, 10A Gauge, 20A 4wd
    3. Do a visual inspection, are the components and wiring intact as far as you can see
    4. Can you follow a wiring diagram and check for power and grounds?

When i bought the truck I shifted into 4wd twice and the second time the 4wd light started blinking. Visually all of the hookups look perfectly fine I will check fuses, the front diff add has been replaced a month ago.

Replaced doesn't mean it works and was done correctly, worth double checking any connectors are plugged in completely.

Put it in 4H while light is blinking shift to neutral then reverse and back to drive. Do all this while idling with foot on brake.
