Every time i purchased a 4wd i put it in 4h on pavement and turned to ensure that the 4wd actually worked, lol

Seriously every one since my first at age 17, i was taught if it binds and lugs when turning the 4wd is actually working. New, used, fresh off the lot with the salesman in the passenger seat.

I am not telling you to drive around pheonix in the summer in 4wd but like anyone who's wheeled boulders/granite whatever you get that binding, you slow down straighten out and keep moving.

If your just lubing her up throw it in 4 drive a little and take it out, common sense applies if you have any your good if not wait till it rains or find a dirt road.

my 4WD acts pretty gay sometime when switching in and out of 4LO. don't know if it's by choice or not however.

 

A few weeks while inspecting the condition of my front diff oil I noticed that it was in bad condition and possibly contaminated with a bit of water. I drained and refilled the diff oil with some motorcraft gear oil procured from my place of employment. And for two days and approximately 30 miles later. and speeds up to 50mph I drove exclusively on pavement to and from my work while engaged in 4wd 90% of that time in order to flush out any remaining contaminated residue from the diff. Redrained and refilled with Lucas conventional gear oil and all is fine
