    You can't just swap them over into the new rack?

    I can’t get these mofos off the rack. I had breaker bars and inner tire rod tool and everything. I’m swinging by there again ti bride and challenge any of the oRielly employees to take a crack at it before it gets shipped out for reman

    Did you try using heat? They could be installed with red loctite.

    I didn’t take a torch to them bc I didn’t want to accidentally melt the boot or mess up the rack and have them not warranty it D: the extenders were covered in scars from previous guys taking them on and off so I figure they’ve been a Bitch in the past and will continue to be a pain in the ass D:

    Trying to fix my 4wd. Had to take off the rack to get to the actuator and the rack honestly I think was bad anyways it was new but I cased the front end off a jump and the alignment was fucked, fouled a steering pump, Tons of big metal flakes in the steering pump. Think the teeth in rack got sheered or something. Figured I’d swap it for a new rack when it’s off anyways

    Ended up using a torch to help get them off. Surrendered the extenders to oRielly in a warranty swap cus I thought I could find new ones online easy and they don’t exist anywhere I messaged camburg Baja kits total chaos and no one sells them. So rushed back the next morning and caught the guys loading it into the truck to leave oRiellys for reman and thankfully they were nice enough to stop what they were doing and spend 30 mins messing with it to get them off I tipped them $100. Otherwise it was gonna be a custom manufacturer job which would of taken weeks and costs much more

    I took the add off and opened it up and everything looked perfect no rust or damage or anything. About to install the new add . Do you know if the truck needs to be a certain gear when it’s installed ? I’m see the fork needs to be in a certain position in relation for the sleeve position for it to engage properly when installed

    As long as the fork lines up with the groove on the collar when it is installed it's correct, if everything else is working correctly it will shift to where it needs to be when the key is turned on.

    Okay sick man I’m wonder if there’s any diagnostics or answers I can get while it’s all apart RN. I don’t think i fixed the issue unless the last ADD was bad but it honestly looked brand new inside. I’m wondering how I can get an accurate diagnosis before i reinstall all these parts D;

    I did the resistance test on the harness and it all seemed right. I tried putting the harness onto new ADD and shifting when truck was in accessory mode to see if it would engage the ADD but nothing happened. Does the truck have to be running for the ADD to get power? My truck is on jack stands RN without front tires so I’m apprehensive to start it up and try shifting it into 4L to test run to make sure new ADD actually moves.

    in theory I could hit the clutch start button, have the 5sp in neutral, and shift around between the gears with the 4wd shifter to test new ADD before reinstalling it ? I’m cautious the truck is gonna jump off the stands

    I'm pretty sure the ADD should shift with the key on if everything is working correctly even if it's not attached to the axle, I know the 2nd gens will.

    I am late to the thread and I don't have much helpful to add. But your yellow truck is fantastic. I love that color and wish it were a standard offering.

    Gahhhhh I’m wondering wtf could be the issue if it isn’t the ADD unit itself then D: that only leaves the harness potentially or maybe the transmission relay I suppose. What else am I missing that could be the issue ? I saw some curosion on the frame it looks like from battery acid I’m going to do a closer inspection and try to follow the harness wiring as far as I can to make sure the wire isn’t currupted somewhere. About to reinstall the ADD rn and do the gasket maker

    Did you verify the switch on the transfer case is working and connected?
