    I have a 2008 Tacoma 4wd standard 6 speed V6 4.0.

Can’t get the 4 wheel to engage when I flip the switch, the light just blinks.

When I try 4 low, flashes and beeps.

I can get it to engage once in a blue moon while I’m driving but other than that it just doesn’t want to do it.

I replaced the front actuator and transmission speed sensor. All fuses are good. Vacuum lines seem okay. Switch seems to be working, as I hear a noise every time I flip it.

The front actuator isn’t working anymore, which again is a brand new part.

I tried disconnecting the battery and reconnecting.

Been troubleshooting this for months. What am I missing? Losing my mind here lol

I don't know if this will help, but I had the same problem until I started smashing the clutch pedal as far as I could into the floorboard. Seems to work for me.

    Oh and welcome to TW.

    Is 4-hi not engaging?

As another guy said, 4-lo requires the clutch to be ALL the way in.

Have you looked at the Transfer case actuator?
The tend to get corrosion on the electric motor terminals.
Sometimes you can repair them, other times it too damaged to be repaired.

If neither 4-hi or lo are working it’s likely a dead actuator. Not sure what would cause only 1 range.

Put the truck on jack stands and pop it into 4wd. If the front driveshaft spins but the front wheels don’t it’s the ADD actuator, if the front driveshaft doesn’t spin it’s the T-Case actuator.
