i said i didn't look for negative threads pertaining to the 3 inch kit but, i did search and posted on more than a couple builds and threads having to do with my exact lift.

i double and triple checked before installing the lift with pro comp's tech department and 4wp's i thought that was enough? it should have been.

link to threads that guy's are having my exact problem getting way more than 3 inches of lift?

your right i didn't search for negative feedback regarding 4wp's. i wasn't trying to research the company before i bought the lift i just checked into the lift itself thats all.

although i never expected it to ever go this way. the way they handled this was just horrible. i guess i could have avoided this situation by searching out there reputation with members on tw.

i'll be doing that next time that for sure seeing as how this has been the single worst customer service experience in my life.

now they want to refund the price of the kit but, not just send me out the bumper?!

maybe i'm crazy here but, they admitted that this is the completely wrong kit for my model truck it's on their website i screen captured it for christ sake! but all they want to do is offer a refund on the kit not the 500 dollars + tax i spent on the install and the 625 dollars for uca's i was told i would not need because i could retain the factory uca's.

the arb bumper would fix this issue and if they refund the cost of the lift which came out to be 470 something why not just send out the bumper to fix the issue at hand?

the manager last week told me they would "sell" me the bumper for 689 dollars! so if they refund 470.00 why not just take a 200 dollar hit at this point and solve the problem they caused in the first place?

none of this makes any sense at all to me. plus i never heard back from the the manager of customer service at 4wp's or greg adler on the matter. they had the tech who admitted the kit was wrong call me back to issue a refund but, not to actually fix the problem for me!

a refund should be in order any way at this point! they sold and let me install the wrong kit for the truck even though i called back 3 times and talked to tech's at procomp and 4wp's before the install!

oh, and the tech that called me back today mentioned this thread! he even went as far as to mention the offers of help from fellow tw members! he was what i would call shocked to see that i did not want to instal used lift in my drive way because that after all would solve the problem.

forget the initial cost of the install to me or the fact that i paid for a new complete lift kit and would end up driving around on used parts...

lol then when i tell the guy that him just refunding the cost of the lift itself is still leaving me in a jam is not going to fix the problem at hand. and that maybe i will have my lawyer give them a call today.

he then responds by saying that 4wp's has a very competent legal team that can handle the matter if keep pushing this issue!!!! wtf is the matter with these people! they sell the wrong stuff to you, then admit it, then expect you to pay to fix the issue.

if the arb bull bar cost 470$ i guess it would not be an issue but, it doesn't it cost just over a thousand.

it's obvious that they are monitoring this thread now so why not just fix the problem we are only 200 dollars off!! to offer me a refund for the wrong parts you sold me and after me calling your tech dept. at pro comp on three separate occasions and three times getting the wrong info is what led to this problem in the first place! pro comp and 4wp's should have offered me a refund when i first called last week!!!!

this is not a solution to my problem of having the wrong kit installed on the truck it's the cheapest way for your company to back out of the situation. make it right for me please...

they are on tacoma world as a vendor, fact... yet they assume no responsibility in the "fixing" of a problem that they where the direct cause of, fact... it seems as if i'm not the only one as well who has had a terrible experience with either 4wp's or pro comp.

i found this vendor on tacoma world, fact... if we have moderators to police our actions. who polices the vendors? are there any consequences for this kind of behavior from them? i guess i'm just curious at this point because i just cannot see how they are allowed to conduct business through this site when this is how they operate.

it is my humble opinion that they should be permabanned from this site as a vendor. i personally do not think it is right that they get to treat the members of our community in this way and still be allowed to hock their wares here.

this has been a cut and dry case of them selling me the wrong parts then basically assuming no responsibility in the fixing of the problem's it caused. i say problems because there very well may more than a few directly contributed to the lift kit they sold me.

my cv boots are going to need to be replaced already! the truck has less than 500 miles on it since the lift was installed and both the driver and passenger side are almost shot to hell! god only knows what damage this has caused with the differential, the axels or ball joints! this is also to speak nothing of the fact that i actually needed upper control arms in order to drive home the day that i had this turd of a lift installed.

if any moderators pop in here and glaze over this thread i hope you take my situation into consideration when it comes to the question of them remaining a vendor on tacoma world. i feel that i was a complete victim here and now i'm suffering the consequences of their stupidity.

so anyone checking into this thread keep the comments rolling in because in the conversation i had today with the pro comp tech it is apparent they have been monitoring this thread.

i think it's only fair that we all share our terrible experiences we have had with them :)

they need to know that as consumers we have legs to stand on and they can't just say fuck it when they totally screw up like this.

i personally want to thank all of you for all the comments and suggestions you have posted up it really means a lot so thanks tw:) this is lost revenue to a company that imho totally deserves it for the way they did me on this.

Bad form 4wp! I was planning on buying wheels from them when the time came but after reading up on your troubles I think I've changed my mind!

Extremely poor customer service on their part. At the very least I hope they will stop advertising that kit as acceptable on the regular cab tacoma.

Good luck with getting it all straightened out The Hans!

There are several reasons why I don't shop at 4wp's. The main one is that they don't sell many of the things I want/need, secondly their WAY overpriced imo both for parts and labor. I remember when I first started college I wanted new shocks. They had the bilstein hd's that I wanted but were selling for $95. The guy at the counter said they would price match ANYBODY. I found a website that sold them for $90 plus they were on sale for 10% off with free shipping. I showed the same guy the ad and he tells me "we can't do that" I was like ok bye. he then tries to push this lift kit on me and I said "not interested. If you can't meet what I ask we have no business here" Needless to say many people still rave about them which is fine and all, I'm sure each transaction is a different experience, it just turns out for some they leave you hanging.

Hans , how are you so certain that installing a 160 lb ARB bumper will fix your situation ? I thought you said that you and Boyd weighted the front down and it only dropped 1/4" ?

Don't you need to lose more like 1 3/4" of lift up front ?

That POS lift has to go .

now, maybe i'm a retard but, i don't see how this applies to my situation at all?!
i'm never complained about a harsh ride or the fact that it doesn't look cool enough or some other shit term in this clause.

i complained that they sold me a kit that was supposed to yield only 3 inches of lift but, instead i got almost 5 thats a huge problem.

the same idiot who sent me this email today is the same tech who after i had the kit installed and called in about the problems i seem to be having admitted to me they never should have sold me this kit in the first place!!!!!!!! and that it was not designed for a 4cylinder regular cab tacoma!

the reason i'm seeking the arb bull bar is the added weight up front and that is all. not because i want one and not because it looks cool but, because these morons at 4wp's sold me a lift kit that at the very least demands one on any 4 cylinder tacoma and even then imho it may not behave properly.

they never stated i would need to run and install a heavy bumper in order for this kit not to destroy my truck. they never told me anything other than the fact that it would work great.
this thread is an awesome idea! i'm going to start posting all the correspondence i have had with these people on here so you guy's can decide for your selves.

and i also began last friday of recording our phone conversations because i have nothing else to do seeing as i can't drive my truck for fear of causing either a car crash or causing major damage to my 4x4 system.

i wonder if it's stated in that little disclaimer that if a customer crashes his or her tacoma because of the way the suspension actually handles the road it would be their fault? as i have stated before it has a ride that i would call dangerous anytime a section of pavement is encountered that is bumpy or an expansion joint is hit the truck tries to change lanes all by itself. both hands on the wheel and all the thing just bounces halfway in the other lane.

regardless they are hearing from my lawyer at some point this week and we shall see if they are willing to let this get blown way out of proportion or simply solve the problem at hand.

    get the pop corn ready.

i am for sure i was just writing that on here because 4wp's is monitoring this thread and i'm letting them know the lengths i'm willing to go to. in order to work something out.

me and boyd only put 50 pounds on the radiator shroud and that brought the front of the truck down a 1/4 inch so the bumper should bring it down 3/4 of an inch and that would be plenty enough so that when i replace my cv's next week it won't mangle them again.

that much difference in the front end should be enough to at least keep the cv fins from rubbing each other.

Is 3/4" gonna really do anything ? You'll still be at 4" , no ?

i'm at a little less than 4 3/8 inches now. and my passenger side has just begun to not rub the fins. my drivers side is another story altogether the spacer that is included in the kit has made the driver side even more resistant to settle and in turn that inner boot is the one that is now busted. so the spacer is history and the bumper needs to go on. that combined with the diff drop should make enough difference in the height to keep the cv from melting off the truck.

on friday boyd only had 50 pound to put out on the radiator. the arb sticks out a good bit from the front of the truck so that weight is even further out in front of the front axel then when we measured and we got a 1/4 inch from that. i was thinking that a 3/4 inch drop in ride height would be sufficient enough to keep the cv from going so prematurely.
