the removal of the leveling spacer on the driver side and the addition of the arb would work to get me at around 3 3/4 inches up front that would actually make a MAJOR improvement in the cv angles and def help with the ride as well seeing as how the truck will have more weight on the front.

also someone correct me if i'm wrong but, if i bring the front down a tad with the weight of a bumper the down travel will also increase as well right? or should i phrase it useable down travel? either way the ride height in the front will be about 3/4 inch lower i would think that when hitting a bump the wheel would then be allowed to extend more.

the alternative is going to be very expensive. in the future when i have the funds to redo the entire suspension i will. so instead of gears and lockers that i was planning on doing in the fall/winter time from eastern gear supply it looks as if i will be redoing the suspension if things don't even out with the addition of the bumper.

which by the way 4wp's has not even given me any answer on yet. so if i end up having to pay full price for a bumper or any money for that matter on a bumper i'm just going to redo this piece of shit pro comp suspension with a full ome set up with dakars.

i'm so tired of these people it's not even funny. the only reason i suspect i received a call from any of the people at either of those places today was because they saw this thread! which the guy was quoting to me on the phone today. he even asked me why i would not let a member instal a spacer lift to fix the problem like wtf?!

hilarious to me that they have been checking in on this thread and the rep who called me today to finally offer me a refund was literally quoting it to me!

btw 200 dollars is what it would take to fix the problem now. i'm willing to let slide the fact i was lied to about the uca's and that now my cv boots need to be replaced in a brand new truck. so thats what it comes down to with these people 200 bucks!

    200 bucks for what ?

Let me guess , they want to refund you the $ for the lift

You want them to supply you an ARB bumper .

    Correct me if I'm wrong

the cost of the bumper was going to be 689 if i bought it from them. so if they are willing to give me a full refund back of 470 why not just send out the bumper to actually attempt to fix it instead of giving me back the price of the kit - shipping of course and still leaving me with a whacked out set-up?

the price difference is like 200 dollars. they are some cheap bastards thats for sure.

I've been watching this thread since it started and read the message about warranty from Pro Comp.....

    Correct me if I'm wrong:

You purchased the Pro Comp Kit from 4wp? and had the kit installed at another facility, not 4wp facility right?

According to the Pro Comp Kit Company they are not liable for the incorrect kit placed on your truck due to it was purchased from 4wp.....which is correct, unless the actual Pro Comp Company has that specific kit listed for your vehicle?

However, since 4wp showed the kit as being vehicle specific to your RIG, they should be the one to overall pay for the cost of removing and replacing all parts that were damaged from the installation of this kit as long as it was installed by a certified mechanic.

Just to actually get the facts:

When you said you contacted a technician/sales rep...was it from Pro Comp or 4wp?

If Pro Comp said the kit was the wrong kit then 4wp should be 100% liable.

If Pro Comp said yes then Pro Comp needs to get stuck with the liability.

Just my two cents......Hope you get this sorted out soon before more damage and headaches follow for your RIG.

Hans were you going to get an ARB originally or are you just getting it to correct the lift issue ?

i contacted both 3 times before the install! once when purchasing the kit that day i also checked to see if these issues could become a reality and twice more just to be absolutely sure. thats the part thats completely retarded! they literally had three chances to tell me the correct information.

the same technician that sent that form to me today is the one i spoke with after the install. who then yes informed me that the kit i have installed on my truck was never intended for a 4 cylinder tacoma and that the spring rates where complete over kill.

thats what i'm trying to do man. the cv boot on the drivers side has a tincy little bit of green poking out of the grove not bad yet but the next time i drive it it will be to toyota to get it replaced. thats on me because i'm the one who put their crap on my truck though lol! i had even screen captured that lift as a model specific choice for the 4 cylinder regular cab taco!

it's not only their fault but, they have like 0 brain power! i called back three separate times to ask these specific questions and they fed me the completely wrong information each time. they also have not one ounce of sympathy for a brother either lol i told this tech today my cv boot is already starting to tear after only 2 weeks and he just blew it of and repeated his self over and over.

just to correct the issues i'm having. i just bought a sweet ass light bar that those vision-x leds are sitting on. it's a randy ellis sleekster it's awesome! heck it out:cool:

awhile back right before i ordered the lift i had kicked around the idea of getting a relentless bumper but i caught him right as he was moving and wouldn't you know it he replies to my email last night lol:facepalm:

so i knew he was moving some of the other guy's had told me so i said fuck it i'll just keep the stocker and get a nice looking light bar.

So , don't you end up with a light bar you can't use , and still have 4" of lift with the ARB ?

That doesn't seem like much of a solution .

Wouldn't the cost of the ARB bumper be better utilized to correct / replace the lift so you end up with 3" of lift and you can keep your light bar you already own ?

the arb would lower the truck to roughly 3 3/4 inches i could live with that for now until i have money to completely swap everything out this winter it's just a little below 4 3/8 up front now so a 3/4 inch drop would at least get me back in the game.

i have the diff drop installed on the truck now so once i remove the spacer from the drivers side and throw the bumper on there it should be a lot better. then i can worry about replacing everything again and paying labor again at my convenience.

also instead of being forced into changing everything out at this moment and getting screwed on the labor and the difference in the cost of the ome kit. i can probably sell the light bar on here to at least recoup some of the funds.

this seemed like the cheapest option to get me rolling again but, apparently 200 dollars is to much for 4wp's or pro comp to shell out.

You won't be able to drive your truck with it still at 3 3/4" for long

They can't do that because they don't manufacture the bumper. The cost to them is different due to the sales margin. Additionally, they could send you the bumper, which may not solve the problem OR could lead to some other problem, which increases their liability and issue with you.

If they are willing to offer full refund of the lift kit, then they are doing the right thing. If they don't wish to refund the labor AND they have it as a written policy that they don't warranty labor, then they are correctly sticking to their policy. If these points are correct and this is the state of affairs, then we have established they have poor customer service, but are finally offering a standard, acceptable offer AFTER much trouble to you, the customer.

However, I think you are at the point where there's nothing that is going to make you happy no matter what ANYone may do.

actually the general manager of 4wp's the guy right under greg adler said that was his cost on the bumper and they stock the item and sell it so.

and what other issue would or could it cause? with these spring rates you pretty much need to run a heavy winch bumper?

also at stage i don't think they care about liability do you? it also took them over a week now of calling everyday and emailing to get them to even offer a refund. plus the fact that i could not even use the factory uca's dude i called their tech dept. on 3 separate occasions to clarify i would not be having any of the issues i'm currently stuck with so:confused: imho they owe it to me it's 219 dollars of a loss it's not like i'm asking them to replace my suspension with some thing else and pay labor i know thats in their clause.

thats the whole reason i tested the bumper theory out and it will get me back in the 3 inch range and even though it's in their warranty clause it still does not make up for the fact that i have to replace my cv boots after 2 weeks of driving.

Hans , I understand your frustration , but IMHO you will still be replacing CV boots like crazy at 3 3/4"

Bottom line is your truck will be basically undriveable without risking more damage
