Yeah make sure you hold the rear locker button because that will lock the diff but turn off the TC which will help a ton

Yeah those puddles are honestly my enemy. Every time i drive on pavement and see a puddle, I get horrific flashbacks.

    From cheap to expensive:

    - Offroad with a buddy that has 4x4 and recovery strap or a winch

    - Air down your tires to 20 psi in the “desert” or 12 psi on sand/mud will do wonders (gas stations or a 12v pump to get back to street psi)

    - A 30’ recovery (not tow) strap & hitch receiver shackle

    - Traction board set

    - Aggressive A/T or M/T tires, I’d stay with the stock size unless you’re lifting 3”, then maybe 285’s if you’re willing to cut.

    - 9000lb winch, either mounted to a portable 2” hitch carrier or an aftermarket front bumper

    - 4x4 swap your truck or sell for a 4x4

Most of all, just go out and drive, test what you can handle in your truck and learn how to drive offroad in a 2wd truck, granted you remain safe and are not reckless.
I went from a small 4x4 1997 4runner with lockers to a long 2wd truck, there is definitly a learning curve. Now, I can go pretty much anywhere I want to, and hang with my 4x4 friends vehicles.

According to my budget i think im going to find a buddy willing to save me, because my tacoma aint OFF ROAD orientated, i think Mud terrains might not be a bad choice and a good investment.

Really. Wanting to throw 285's on his 2WD so he don't get stuck in the parking lot....This bait way too obvious. But he got some takers....

I run 2wd. I build my truck just like everyone else. Only time I've ever had real issues is on the ice. I have run it in sand on the beach, out in Moab, out in Big Bend in TX, and up some decently Rocky areas. Sometimes you just need to add speed.

My next upgrade is going to be a locker. I think it will help in some of the lower speed situations. But like everyone said, wheel with a buddy. It's good advice even with 4wd so even more so with 2wd. My local crew is great, supports my need to push the limits, and helps me out when I can't get through on my own. @EatSleepTacos is basically my local tugboat (his words) Don't let anyone shit on your truck, it's way more capable than people would have you believe.

Thanks man, after this incident i lost fate in this truck. I just think that as soon as possible an investment in tires would be the way to go.

I dont think the truck was the problem here. I wonder if you busted a sprinkler system or something. This is driver error imo. Have you ever owned a truck before? This one still has the temp dealer purchase

At least you got it dirty doing something truck-like. A high percentage of people over-glorify their trucks with expensive lifts and every accessory known to man, just to ride around in parking lots.
