    This for sand, plus a shovel and some traction boards. Oh, and learn when to say “I’ll stop here....”
    Keep it until 2wd until you get stuck, for starters, then use 4wd to get out. Keep moving in sand if you can help it—stoppage =stuckage. Preview trails before taking your wife and kid (congrats!), and carry a shovel, traction boards, and a basic compressor. Bring a bicycle so you can ride back to get help if you are stuck deep in the woods. Explore! Have fun!

    Great advice in here. Upgrade those ties and you'll be just fine. Grab some traction boards off eBay.
