The 4cyl manual transmission tcase has a 26 spline tcase also. Not compatible with any of the other 23 spline tcases.

Just be aware 4 cylinder and v6 are different in some ways. Take the drive line. 4 cyl has a longer front drive-line and a shorter rear(front half) section than the v6.

Here is a picture of the transfer case out of the 98 Tacoma I am buying parts from. 4cyl, standard trans. Looks like I now need to see if he will crack them apart to count the splines.

So far for my 4x4 swap For my 04 Prerunner I have Auto Transmission, Transfer Case (ADD), axles, full driveshafts, front differential (ADD), interrior shifter housing, 4wd Spindles, and transmission mounts, might be missing a few things but what else do I need? Mainly curious about the ADD system and what extras I need to find to
    Complete my parts list

Do you have the entire interior shifter assembly? You can use your 2WD one but it's cleaner and easier to just swap the whole shifter assembly.

You wouldn't have to cut the hole for the t-case shifter and transfer the rubber boot - the whole shifter assembly is held on by 10 or so bolts.

Now do you have the pushbutton t-case or the manual j-shift?

Hmm... wiring up ADD takes a lot of wiring and/or vacuum hose routing/VSV work to get it to work properly. Did you figure out the wiring part of the swap?

People on here have done push button 4WD swaps before, it's possible. I don't really have the knowledge to tell you what exactly you have to do and to what extent but it'll be considerably easier to use manual hubs and a j-shift transfer case.

What year is your truck, and what year is the donor truck? Some 2003-2004 trucks used an electronic throttle so you won't be able to use transmissions from those trucks and vice versa.

I might just look for those then honestly, I don't really have the knowledge to do the add system myself at least I think. Would I have to get a different front diff also

If you have an ADD diff. you can use it, you just have to lock it in 4WD permanently using a hose clamp. My front diff. came from a 4Runner and is vacuum actuated. I bought a manual jackshaft just because I wanted to do it properly, but a hose clamp will work fine.

Perfect, you won't have a problem with the trans. then - 2003/2004 electronic trans. are notoriously hard to find.

Any other questions man? I'm doing the swap myself in December.

I'm really not too sure about the hose clamp - I forget who told me you can do it I think it was @MstrYota. You basically have to hold the actuator permanently locked in 4WD, this is for manual hubs of course for ADD I have no idea how it would work.
