Anybody having this issue? Mine seems to be doing it after 40mph
Running the drive shaft bearing drop kit.
Noise goes away if I go from h2 to h4

I read something about a needle bearing upgrade because of this......here somewhere in the forums.

Here, see "UPDATE" in first post:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...differential-bearing-vibration-thread.152173/

I (along with many others) had the same issue. The stock needle bearing in the front diff allows the CV to wiggle a bit, so you can replace it with a more snug bushing. I installed the ECGS bushing from the above thread and it solved the problem. Have had it for over 20k miles and still vibration-free.

3rd gen is same diff and suspension, so yes its the same issue. Mine does it from 25-40mph. I'll be changing to the bushing once I get about 5k on the truck.

I got it too, stock suspension. Under 700mi. Made appoint for Thursday. Hope not, but figuring 'that's normal' will be the outcome. Low tone groan, on/off until put back into 4wd. First time it happened, I took it out of 4wd and it was loud and vibration very obvious, ever since, its more subtle, still annoying though and staying that way

When I went to the dealership with vibrations after my lift they told me to buy the EGCS bushing hah. Worth asking though!

As far as installation difficulty, there are videos on the ECGS website to show you what is involved. I would watch those and decide if it's something you can do on your own. Toyota said they would install the bushing for like $1600, I paid a local shop $100 to do it instead. He said it was fairly easy -- the worst part was dealing with the constant stream of diff fluid all over him while he installed the bushing.

I just did mine No gear oil dripping if you jack just the drivers side up ...on a lift the truck stays level hence fluid flow ...it was an easy job just need the ECGS tool to remove the needle bearing I don't think another puller would do it. also I used a race seat kit to install it Harbor freight the kit was $35 has multiple sizes ...I did this job in my driveway without air tools if you do things like brakes, starters, shocks, water pumps, etc than this job is pretty easy! P.S. it did not take care of my vibration problem... going to have the driveshaft balanced next.

What? This did not take care of your vibration? Must not have been the needle bearing.

Needle bearing did not fix the issue for me either. going to try replacement with a solid aftermarket bushing, otherwise going to remove lift.

Well damn I really hope it is the needle bearing. I have a diff drop kit at home that haven't had a chance to slap it on. Maybe that will help if not needle diff bearing is next

I think the issue has been fixed. Threw on the diff drop kit. No vibrations so far

I only drove my truck 10-20 miles after the lift and alignment, never once noticed a vibration. I ended up only doing the Diff Drop because everyone including my dealer recommend it. I have had a vibration ever since doing the diff drop.

I have been seeing conflicting things on the needle bearing bushing swap.

The vibration is 5-40 mph roughly.
It lessens a lot when switched into 4wd.
It goes away after several miles of driving (As front diff builds some heat)

The vibration is something I Can live with. However will it continue to get worse??? Will it end up causing any like fluid leaks? If its just the vibration I am fine with that.
