I was driving down a mountain on 4h due to snow/icy road, when the truck suddenly stopped and wouldn’t move when I tried to accelerate to get to the side of the road.

I’m confident that I was not going over 60mph when this happened. I was able to switch the mode to 2WD and made it back home(200miles away).

I’ve been trying to find what could have happened here at TW. But don’t really know where to start…I e seen anything from broken axel to bad actuator.

if y’all can help me diagnose and find a fixit would help a lot.

I’ll try to see if it’s an axel this weekend but I doubt it’s that….

    thx!

Brakes sticking? Doesn't sound like an issue in the 4WD system to me.

The one who dies with the most stuff wins.
You say the truck suddenly stopped, did the wheels lock up? Were you hitting the brakes / using the parking brake? If you try to engage 4WD now what does it do?

I’m not understanding your description of what happened. Could you describe it in a different way with more detail?

Any TSS warnings on the dash, or build-up on the radar sensor?

when it happened it felt like I ran over something but no sounds or lights on 2WD

when I switched it back to 4h it is clacking noise and doesn’t really move or I’m afraid to step on it.

Did you check the outside of the truck for blood?

Maybe you broke it. Poke around the transfer case, front drive shaft, front diff, ADD, and cv axles.

This, what caused it stop suddenly? The potential driveline issue, snow bank, a chupacabra? Seems odd it would just suddenly stop moving.

Brakes aren’t sticking when I’m in 2WD so I don’t think it’s that unless it’s possible that they are sticking when 4dw is engaged?

I just tried it on 4h and it’s moving but I hear metal hitting/clicking every time wheels are spinning. Noise sound like gears are grinding

Yeah I guess it felt as if the truck went from whatever gear it was on to a lower gear but the engine did not rev it just jolted/skirted to a stop. My friend who was in front of me thought I slammed o. The brakes but I did not

Maybe a seized front diff or a broken chain in the T-case jamming things up??

Pull the fill plugs on both and see if you have oil…
