Well heck, they should make the whole truck plastic so if you get hit just replace the parts you need, or even don't make a body at all, roll out Flintstone style!

Yes, your right cheaper for the consumer and the seller!

Ford is already building an aluminum F150 in an effort to reduce weight and the reliance on steel; I wouldn't be surprised to see more use of plastics, CF or Kevlar later down the road as the manufacturing processes become cheaper.

Like I said, if you have a problem with the plastic bumper that comes with your truck, there's always aftermarket to replace with steel.

Yeah, I hear ya, just jacking with you bro, thanks. I just remember my first car when I was 16, and yes I'm dating myself here, it was a 1965 dodge dart slant six, I paid $200.00 cash and cuts yards for a summer to pay for it, best car ever and solid steel just like the beer cans, lol!

I won't defend drums, but I've had several (non-Toyota) [real] chrome bumpers corrode and it isn't pretty. I had no idea these were plastic myself, but I loathe chrome and am very glad for body painted bumpers on my (yeah, tech package) TRD OR.

Given the choice between fake plastic chrome and real on metal, I'd probably take the plastic, even though Colorado isn't nearly so corrosive as other places I've lived.

So if painted bumpers are part of the tech package on the TRD OR.. does that include the moon roof also ..and how would the option for leather seats become available. ?

I posted this same question months ago on TW and to the dealership. Dealership could not explain why their TRD OR came with chrome bumpers and their TRD OR 4x4's came with painted caps. Both are without the the Tech Pkg. Got my TRD OR 4x4 without Tech Pkg and my caps are painted. $.02
