To everyone who posted thoughtful on-topic replies: Thank you! (Especially you Chickenmunga, very helpful!) You've given me a lot to think about.

And to everyone else; either stay on topic or get out of this thread. Thanks.

I am leaning towards a Prerunner with TRD. But as I search I will continue to look for any 4wd's in my price range. Who knows, I may find a deal!

    Hi,
If you use your 4wd only 1% of the time, well than that's enough for me. I probably use my 4wd maybe 3-5 times per year up in Tahoe, but I figure if it's dumping buckets @ 1-2 inches per hour with 18-wheelers buzzing by, forget the economics!!
Plus, you'll get all/most of your money back upon resale.
    Just fft

BS..... Had two 4WD trucks and now am completely happy with 2WD.

If you live in the north buy a 4WD for resale.....If you live in the south less 4WDs are sold as most regular people don't need a 4WD and don't want to pay the insurance . You find more 2WDs Tacos on new car lots than 4WDs. Fuel and maintenance premium for them. I passed on 2 4WDs before choosing mine.

better to have 4X4 and not need it, than to need it and not have 4X4.

it may cost you $$$ up front, but resale will bring you more $$$
