I'll see maybe 1 prerunner for every 20 4x4 in Reno.

I love my 4x4... I regretted not buying one when I had my first Prerunner. Especially if you're gonna want to stay on these boards... You'll be wheeling soon lol

Same here. I had a 2007 Pre-runner and learned very quick that I needed a 4x4. The pre-runner was always a regret and a waste of money for me.

You lose 1 mpg getting the 4x4. Quite frankly, You'd save a lot more gas getting a car than a 2 wheel drive truck. I would never have bought a 2 wheel drive Tacoma... Id rather have a car. 2wheel drive pickus are strickly for hauling and towing for 99.9% of buyers. I got mine as an off-road machine, though 99% of my miles are on road. I dont regret the 1 mpg loss. I also dont regret the money spent on my TRD Offroad package. I would be hard pressed to drop the cash on an ARB locker, especially with it voiding the warranty.

It was the Canadian Vancouver. :p

I saw one more PreRunner today, with Nevada plates and it was a first gen. This was in southern Washington.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
get a 4x4, in my opinion they look better than the PreRunner or the 2WD Tacomas mainly because they sit up higher and their fenders bulge out and give them an aggressive get out of my way look. Plus you just never know when you are going to get stuck and need 4 wheel drive to get out, having a 4x4 will put you at ease.

Go PreRunner with the TRD Off-Road package - I just got my 2011 and I wouldn't change a single thing about it.

As far as the 4x4 looking better than the 4x2 - that's not an issue if you go PreRunner. The whole idea of the PreRunner was to give it the same height, suspension, etc as the 4x4 model, without the extra cost of it.

I simply don't need 4WD down here and thus, why spend the extra $3k on it when I can use that for accessories/mods?

    That's just my $.02,

    Go with the 4X4!

That way you can tell people you drive a 4X4 rather than telling them you drive a PRERUNNER.

and it will save you from having to debadge.

lol the 4x4 and the prerunner are EXACTLY the same, looks wise. the only difference is that the 4x4 has power to the front wheels.

The fender "bulge" is bc they have fender flares. the base tacos dont have the flares.

Got a Prerunner because its what I could afford with the options I wanted and it has gotten me everywhere I have wanted or needed to go.

It's still gonna get a an FJ tcase and 4x4 after I get suspension and tires taken care of.

Oh I absolutely will show it off once I buy one ;)

I saw a craigslist ad for a white DC 4x4 SR5 (No TRD) with ~67k miles on it for $20k today. Is this a good deal? I'm kinda wishing I wasnt a few g's short or I could have jumped at it...
