4X4 Switch Trouble !

Hi all,
Ran into trouble with my 4X4 switch that I just pulled apart and put back. Any help would be appreciated.
I changed the surround ring and now this message and no 4X4 ....Either high or low.

 

I'm guessing you put it back together wrong or forgot to plug it back in.

 

Pretty certain got it wrong indeed . It lights up though so that part wired properly, which should mean the rest is properly wired ?? And I believe the internal contacts are properly lined up.

Thanks for the link. I watched this a bunch of times before going ahead. And again right now. and although I had a harder time removing the chrome ring itself, the rest was smooth and much like this. After it didn't work I went back and re and re'd it with a disassemble of switch as well. Still no luck .

 

If I remember, there is a small spring that makes the contacts. it may have come out.

 

You do remember correctly. And thanks for the suggestion. It was however reinstalled with the contacts in correct position.

 

To be fair, I have done this upgrade myself, I went for red (my truck Is Barcelona Red)and I had the same trouble with the 4X4 switch, The guy doing the demo makes it look so easy, I wonder how many times he did it before filming it, I had to set it aside and come back to it in a couple of hours, I figured I was going to have to order a new switch, The clarity came when when I got the price from the dealer. Focus if all the parts are there you can do it. If I had known how much trouble it is ..........I would never have done it. BTW I am 68 and handicapped.

So you took some time and went back to it. Do you remember what you changed?

 

I did this awhile back in my truck, watched the video and it worked for me without getting that message. Something is obviously not in the right place during re assembly. Did you possibly drop or lose a tiny screw? Even though youve already taken it apart a put it back together, I would try again. Very slowly each step by step.

 

Lucifer I have faith in you that you can do it my man! Id give it another go just take your time and try not to get frustrated, that is your key to success

 

It also could be that your dial is not aligned properly when re assembling it. Make sure you follow the video process very carefully during that step

 

I see the "4LO" light on. Does that mean that the switch should be in 4LO before plugging it in, possibly syncing it?

 

It flashes . I will re and re it again. Slowly . And see if your on to something

Another member did. Pull the switch apart and make sure the little metal whisker contacts did not get bent out of place.
