Not sure if this is in the rite section hope it is?

Has anyone ever bolted a 4x4 transmission and transfer case from a 2.7 motor into a a 2wd 5lug 2.4? will it bolt up I know the motors are almost the same. Has any one tried? Also would it be possible to just bolt the transfer case on to my existing manual transmission?

Has anyone done it? I'm sure somewhere, but it's no small feat. 5 lugs are a totally different animal underneath than a 4x4 with a 2.7 under the hood. The frame and whole suspension setup is different, and you couldn't just bolt stuff up like you could if you had a prerunner

If I built another Tacoma it would be a 2wd 5lug and yank bothrhe axle out from under it and replace with tons or land cruiser axles, and a set of duals behind a 4wd trans. You won't find your answer here, go search pirate4x4 or marlins board, it has been done before.

I get that the cross members and suspension mounts are all different. I plan on cutting them call off anyway. I am just wondering if the trans and t-case can be adapted to fit.

I get what you are all saying... But I have nothing but time for this project it is not a daily driver, the fame will be striped of all 5lug suspension mounts and cross members soon. I am not building a rock crawler no use for it for me and I have access to all the new suspension, mounts, and crossmembers I need. So back to my original question will the trans off a 2.7 stick bolt up to a 2.4 block.
