From above it does look it was a runway! No doubt... but too close to homes for a drug strip (like the ones we find in Baja)! But, who knows... maybe it was?

Okay, for fun I just now 'flew over' the area I drove yesterday (on Google Earth)... and this will give others an idea of the roads in the area, too.

Here is looking up the grade of Camino Mayor from where it leaves Twin Oaks Valley Road (note, there is no stret sign for Mayor... but there is for Calafia, just south):



The first road junction is the short cut road to the airport, we continued straight:





We turned north, went down then up the other side:





We turned around and the first road we climbed up, I decided against and backed into a deep ditch, and high centered the truck on the spare and hitch... A-TRAC pulled me out, no problemo! We then headed towards the 'airstrip'...





We drove to the end and took that little trail that loops around and back to the runway... this view looking east, as if 'on approach'for a landing...



We headed back to Camino Mayor on the short cut road then back down the grade to Twin Oaks Valley Road... Got some brush scratches on the new truck... again (first ones we got in Baja)!

Yah... that was some deep rut we had to straddle going up Camino Mayor! If I didn't have some confidence in this new Tacoma with A-TRAC, I would have never attemped that road alone. It was a TRACTOR!

A landing like that will give hours of enjoyment telling anyone who didn't see it happen..... Well done !! ( ?? ? ) pretty wild shit ya got there, what happened just a last second change in trajectory path ?? Or did you ease up on the gas a little right before taking flight ?? It had to be one or the other bro' !! C'mon whats the scoop ?? Expired minds like mine want to know !!
