Quick question for anyone who's had their ADD go out on a second gen. My 4WD wasn't working for a while so I finally took it in to have some diagnostics run on it. The shop replaced one of the position switches on the transfer case, which made the 4WD chassis and 4-LO lights stop blinking, but the system still wouldn't go into 4WD. They dug further and said the following:

"Pin 13 shows 12V and should show 0V in 2WD. That is for DL1 limit switch in front diff lock actuator. Wiring good to actuator, ohm test the limit switch shows open, should show ground. Has a faulty front diff lock actuator assembly."

I've seen guys open the actuator and solder the leads to the small motor in there which seems to solve a lot of problems with these. Anyone suggest trying that or just replace the whole assembly?

    Thanks for the advice!

I’d probably try it. What do you have to loose if it doesn’t work?
It’s worth a try if you are going to do it yourself.
Probably not worth it if paying someone else.

This, and there are some good videos on YT showing you how to do it. It looks pretty straight forward.
    Keep us posted.
