expect a CVT. cannot see Subaru putting an MT in there given their manufacturing trend. i say that because although many are MT fans, many more seem to be CVT haters.

I do not think there is a CVT that can take the demands of a pickup , unless it's a poser like the ridgeline.

Dec 18th my wife and I drove down the I5 between Bellingham and Burlington WA, it had snowed and was messy out, there were probably 20 vehicles in the ditch, flipped, people standing on the shoulder waiting for tow trucks, it was crazy. My Tacoma in 4H with the KO2s had zero issues. Tires and 4H made the difference, never felt like I was losing traction.

All CVT's are not created equal, nor are they driven (abused?) equal!

Technically Mid engine rear wheel drive.

That's pretty awesome! And that car is Rear engine rear wheel drive.

Also, I agree on the winter tires. In BC its the law to have winter tires. My little focus with winter tires was a beast in the snow (front wheel drive)!

    It's actually AWD.

    From the article...

And although the 911 Turbo S’ maximum 580 hp (at 6,750 rpm) and 553 lb-ft of torque (at 2,250 rpm in overboost) might trail some other supercars, its relatively svelte 3,557-pound curb weight, rear-engine location, and all-wheel drive enable it to get power to the pavement that much more quickly.

But not really a supercar. Not even the same class as the 918.

Do you need to know, or care?
Not the law in the lower mainland to have snow tires, that's why Vancouver is a mess in 1" of snow.

Looks like its built off a highlander platform and stretched out a bit. I doubt Toyobaru would want to invest in a new platform solely for a large CUV/truck.

"Toyobaru" -- where did that term come from? Toyota owns just 16.5% of Subaru -- I don't think Fuji industries (parent co. of Subaru) would give up that much control. True --they do share a lot of parts and have some similarities, because I would bet this saves some manufacturing costs.
But then again who knows what will happen --stranger mergers have came along!
