look man... every single person from this area that has replied on this thread has said 4x4 you're the only one claiming 2wd and you are a mall crawler from the sunny south...

in the snow a locked prerunner will not stand a chance against a 4x4... a locked prerunner will just spin both rear tires

this is about SNOW... not mud, sand, dirt, rocks... JUST SNOW!

    All kidding aside.....

OP....WHY does this person prefer your small AWD Car to his 2WD truck?

    MPG or weather?

THERE'S IS YOUR ANSWER......When he answers that question yours will be as well.

forget about what you read here. 4WD will defend their rides PreRunners will defend theirs all in good fun...

Truckee-Tahoe area has an average of 198.3 inches (503.7 cm) of snow annually, which makes it the 5th snowiest region in the United States.

This from someone with a fake hood scoop? That thing is sort of like Pec Implants......

Nothing screams fake more than a hood scoop on a Tacoma. Kind of takes the shine off those big tires..ya think? Hood scoops are the ultimate Mall Crawler statement if Mall crawling is indeed an evil to be avoided.

I use to go offroad a lot more... but I've limited my offroading though due to this being my only ride other than my motorcycle... but I guess according you my bike is good enough and if the weather is shit than I should just stay home...

You can turn, you just need to be on a surface that will allow the tires to slip: dirt, gravel, sand, etc. You should never have the locker engaged on a high-traction surface like a street, for example. Ideally you would only drive straight with the locker engaged, but that rarely happens.

The locker definitely kills your turning radius; I'll usually turn mine off if I have to make a 3point turn on a swithcback or something. A locked diff likes to push you forward, it doesn't like to turn.

Don't bother...These guys have to justify their rides. What you are saying cannot possibly be true.

You can ask anyone with a 4WD from Key West to San Diego whether someone should get 2WD or 4WD and they all will say 4WD. Then there are those with 2Wd who wanted 4Wd but could not afford them .

Then there are us Mall Crawlers who cannot possibly drive in snow with a 2WD truck

My prerunner got stuck in icy snow off Upper Truckee Hgwy a few weeks ago, and my buddy had to pull me out in his Defender! Keep the WRX or get 4x4.

ha ha lets make this easy. The only people with advice about driving in the snow should be those that still have snow on the ground. (on that cold freezing March 26)
BTW Somebody call Al Gore because Global Warming is late this year, and I am sick and tired of snow and freezing temps. Today I contemplated doing Hot Air Intake (opposite to CAI)

Oh and OP. If you live where there is still snow on the ground you need 4x4.
