I put my Tacoma into four wheel drive and the wheel radius and acceleration were more restricting than usual so I took it out of four wheel drive and when the steering wheel is all the way over it makes a screeching noise anyone have this problem before and know what's going on?

It was on a back road and I came up to a bumpy and muddy section and last time I used my 4x4 was about 2 weeks ago going on other back roads.

Does it screech while you are moving or just turned? Where approximately is the noise coming from? Is the driveline still binding like you are still in 4wd?

If you can't be troubled to at least give me a detailed response I am not going to help... If you are out in the sticks, limp it home in 2wd and take a look at it in the morning and give us some good info. Have someone else help you to isolate the noise if you need to. There's a very good chance that you will not be able to address the issue in the field.

You are binding your transfer case and your tires are trying to grab the pavement, therefore the screeching. Don't use 4wd on dry pavement. Problem solved

Not that this is your issue but I was out wheeling with a guy in an older 4runner a few weekends ago, toward the end of the trail his rig started to make the same sounds you describe (though it's a little hard to say for sure without hearing it in person or seeing a video). Turns out his front diff had no fluid in it, it had sprung a leak awhile back and he neglected to service it.

Again, not saying this is what you're dealing with but it reminded me of his situation. His was so bad it blew up his front diff (didn't help that he was out wheeling all day when it happened). He had to limp off the trail several miles in 2wd but fortunately he was able to do that. Might want to check your fluid level and see what it looks like. Hope it's nothing that serious but can't hurt to rule it out.
