So...I done fucked up! Shit like this happens when you’re single and in you’re early 40’s. You realize you ain’t getting any younger and before you know it. Your 75 years old spamming a truck forum trying not to be an asshole but just are like @scocar

So. Instead of being a bitter old man who regrets not making that leap I decided to jump not only feet first into the pool of bad decisions I dove head first into the shallow end of the pool and picked this gal up!

    387E5DB7-5262-4053-97B1-F8AFD8C5508B.jpg

Now, bet you’re wondering...what the fuck can you do to this to make a build thread out of it?!?!

    Well! Let me tell you!!!

Not much! But there are things you can do to it and those things are going to eat away at your precious retirement budget or, if you’re like me...who doesn’t have one! Your ability to make timely payments on your electric, water and sewer bills!

What we have here is a 2019 BMW R 1250 GS
HP with a god damned premium package! It’s got the keyless ride, 6 different ride modes, gear shift assist, linked brakes, dynamic suspension that adjusts to terrain and load, heated grips, etc, etc, and nav!

    I forgot...a center stand too!

I didn’t opt for the adventure model with a 2.5gallon larger fuel tank and extra goodies cause they just weren’t any around in my area and they wanted my sons college education for it so...I didn’t go for it.

I picked up up about a week ago and have put about 80 miles on it so far. I’ll be installing the Touratech upper crash bars tomorrow and from there, I’m looking at adding some extra lighting up front and a rear brake light flasher

I did get the panniers with it and the top case so I have space for some gear when I venture Offroad and set out to go camping with it.

More to come. Including pinstriping, mashed crash bars and chaffed riding gear!

I met a guy in AK on a 1200gs. 100,000 miles and he was still having a blast. Enjoy!

Edit:. And if you wanna spend money, Clearwater lights are sweet.

I got hooked on the R1200GS after watching the long way round and long way down in the 2000’s and have always wanted a version of it. It’s such a versatile bike that does everything so well. They last forever too which makes it even more palatable.

I think those shows sold more BMW bikes than anything else. KTM really missed out when they turned that one down.

Their only real weakness is weight. Load them down with too much gear and they can get tough to manage if the road gets snotty. Other than that, they're fantastic. Like two wheeled lazboys.

With the premium package I get this. Hopefully it will alleviate those issues.

    Dynamic ESA

The BMW Motorrad semi-active suspension maximizes riding safety, performance and comfort. It monitors suspension travel via sensors at the front and rear suspensions and integrates other parameters such as speed, braking and acceleration to continuously adjust suspension damping according to the riding situation. Dynamic ESA also offers the highest degree of adjustability to suit any riding style or riding condition:1) Specific settings for rain, road, dynamic, Enduro and Enduro Pro modes*, which are optimized for on-road and off road riding.2) Three levels of damping: soft, normal and hard to suit the rider preference.3) Electronically adjustable spring preload according to the motorcycle load: Solo rider, rider with luggage, or rider and passenger.

Added Touratech upper crash bars and took it for a spin around a local Mt.

It’s a lot of fun to ride and plenty of power and torque.

It connects to my phone too and I have the app linked to the bike. The app has navigation so I can set a route and throw the phone in my pocket or mount it to the handle bars. If it’s in my pocket the display on the bike will display turn by turn directions. The app also records every ride I do and can export the file as a gpx so I can share routes.

I can also download map data...I’ll share a pic in here and let what you see sink in.
