I recently purchased and installed the rear bumper from 4xInnovations for our gen Taco and made a video of the install. It's not super detailed or awesome quality, just a typical YouTube install video haha. It's extremely easy, but they're a cool small company so hopefully this will help them out, and anyone on the fence about a rear bumper.

That's not a half bad video, actually. Nice job.

I have 4X sliders on my truck. I really like them, and I liked the price, too. I think it was $250 for DOM sliders. I just had to do a bit of welding to mount them at the right width and angle I wanted. Cheapest sliders I've seen that aren't made of plastic, lol

I wish they had something more like that for their bumpers too. Something with "some" welding required. My CBI bumper took forever, albeit that's mostly because of my undersized welder, lol. If I do another DIY bumper, I'm buying a bigger welder for sure. I don't even know of anyone that makes a DIY kit with a swingout, though.

If someone out there (ahem, 4xinnovations) made a kit similar to their sliders where a lot of the welding was already done, but still needed some fitting and welding, I probably wouldn't feel the need to get a bigger welder.

Aww who am I kidding, I already know I'm getting a bigger welder, I'm pre-wiring my new shop with 220v for it right now!

Thanks man. I currently have the rock sliders, but they are not installed yet. I have a welder buddy that is going to put them on for me. Have you looked at the "DIY" section of 4x's site?

Awesome video! That answers some questions for me. My 4x swingout bumper is getting made right now. Should be about 4 more weeks. Thank you for making this video

I have, yeah. I really dig their double shear swingout hinges. Way stronger than trailer axles, but not sold on how they stick out.

    I like these too.

I'm about 4 weeks into my order for the same exact bumper... Actually by the look of your bedlined truck we will be twins fairly soon. Nice job on the install! I'm already prepared to cut those bolt out if needed... Pretty much what I've had to do with every major bolt I've had to remove from the rear end!

@mcclurej881 what product did you use to coat the truck? I've got some monstaliner waiting on the shelf... I took all next week off to work on my house projects and truck! That's on the list if things to do! Looks good!

I used a raptor liner tint yourself kit. I picked my color from Coronado swatches at the shop where I buy lacquer. I taped everything off, scuffed and sprayed it will think their gun that came in the kit. I use a lot of finishes and paints for work and it is a great product. I bought an 8 quart kit and still have a bunch leftover. I haven't looked into monstaliner, but make sure it's a polyurea/urea product, otherwise it won't be UV stable and will become chalky and look like shit.

I'm running the 4xInnovations IFS and Transmission skids, DOM Sliders with kickouts and waiting on the XCase Skid, and rear wraparound bumper to come in Monday. Everything was shipped either sooner than quoted or on time. I'll post again with pics. I'm currently assembling my tire carrier as I wait for the bumper.

I've seen a few taco threads with guys using it, but it's very popular with the Jeep community. It does advertise to be UV stable and from the reviews I've seen that holds true

I just checked out their website. Probably a urea formulation since they're claiming UV stable. Does it only come roll-on though?

Looks good man. Out of curiosity, why did you opt for the ARB front bumper instead of the 4x? I'm leaning toward the ARB but have been tempted by the 4x.

I went for the ARB for the tested airbag compatibility as it's my daily and my family rides, too. Otherwise, I would have went with their high clearance front.

Edit: I don't see a front bumper for the 2nd Gens, which I have. They do have them for 1st Gens, though.

Ah okay. I guess I just assumed they had a front bumper for 2nd gens.

Nope, but they have 1 for 1st Gens. Go Mobtown or SOS for 2nd Gens
