I was going to schedule my 25k service the other day and realized, as I was setting up the appointment online, that the 25k is basically just a tire rotation, floor mat adjustment, and some other garbage. I can rotate my tires at home and see no point in bringing the vehicle in for service if there is no oil change included. I found on the forum (that's right I found something with the search function) that I can report the service myself on the toyotaowners.com website. So, decided to go ahead and do the rotation myself.

I made an account and went to the service history section and was looking at the past histories when I discovered that the dealer I go to has reported that they have changed the oil at every 5k interval I brought the truck in. Yes, I just realized that the 5, and 15 I probably could have skipped and done at home myself. Anyways, do you think they are actually doing the service (I never paid extra for the oil change so it was for free when it's not required under the maintenance plan), or are they just reporting to Toyota that they are doing the service so they can get the warranty money from Toyota and the tech can get a few extra tenths pay? I don't care if they are trying to get some extra cash flow through the dealership, all the power to them, but at this point I'm tempted to take the truck in for the 25k service just so they do a free oil change on it again, even though it doesn't need it.

Has anyone else found that their dealer has done the oil change for free or reported that they have done it on toyotaowners? I would hate to waste my time by bringing the truck in if they aren't actually doing it. I would tell them not to rotate the tires since I just did it. But the free oil change couldn't hurt anything haha.

Then just pay them to do the oil change also.

Call me cheap, but Ill take a free unnecessary oil change, not going in to pay for unnecessary oil change.

I brought mine in at 5 and they made me pay saying that Toyota Care only covered 10k intervals but they gave me a freebie at 15. They also wouldnt touch radar sensor recall at 10 saying I had a lift but fixed it at 15. Just random i guess.

I'll probably skip the freebie this time if they have actually been doing them. It's pretty cool of them if they've been giving me free un-required oil changes though. I like my dealer, they will drop me off at work for free and pick me up in the afternoon when I need service. I didn't even buy the truck there, I hated the dealer I bought it from. They did some scummy stuff that never got resolved and I never went back.

I think you are reading it wrong. It does not say oil change, it says 5k service-synthethic oil vehicles, then it list was is done on that service.
Also it does not list an oil filter anywhere.

You’ll get nothing free from the dealer. Except maybe donuts, but many don’t even have those.

You're reading it wrong - you're not getting oil changes at those intervals.
