5-20 oil?

    I run other oil than that but you can certainly run 5W-20 around the clock just fine. There is nothing needing to be known to do so, if you want to just do it. It will still be fine in even the coldest of climates.

    The FSM allows everything from 0w20 to 15w40 depending on your driving conditions and operating temperature range.

    I switched to 5w30 when I did the oil and filter change at 900 miles and haven't looked back. If I was towing a lot or lived in the south where 90+*F was common, I'd probably use an even heavier weight oil.

    I haven't noticed a fuel economy impact running 5w30. Still averaging about 16.8mpg with mixed driving in hilly areas with a bumper, winch, sliders.

    There's no benefit, 5W20 is simply thicker when its cold, which is not good.

    5W20 is obsolete to 0W20 like 10W30 is obsolete to 5W30.

    Run 5W30 if you're in a really hot climate, but otherwise stick to 0W20 per manual.
