FWIW, most insurance companies use the dash as a dipstick. If the water gets up to the bottom of the dash, they usually total it. Not saying a deeply flooded vehicle can't be brought back from a coma, but there are way too many unknowns and the possibility for corroded connector gremlins forever. An insurance company doesn't want to be liable for electrical problems that could pop up months or years later.

Even of you located am ECM and got it going. What issues are you going to have down the road? That much water plays havoc with electrical connections etc. Plus the mold!

In all reality i gave them all of this info, not trying to hide anything, whats done is done and it will go the way it does. As bummed as i am its a truck and while i had plans of it lasting forever, im sure i will go through plenty more in my lifetime.

Sometimes I miss old school technology. I've seen water up to the headlights several times on 1960's and 70's trucks. Never stopped and and no apparent damage.

oh damn, you went through that?!

Like @SR-71A said, if the year and options are the same, it should work. I sold my Supercharger and the flashed ECU, and bought another ECU on ebay. I just had the dealer check the part number. It was just a few number changes older. They can search back to see if it will work.

Also, there are a few ECUs near the main one. Might want to check those too

Water destroys everything, I wouldn’t want to deal with mold (no matter how well you clean and dry it), the smell, and the future possibility of electrical gremlins.

I was unaware of any other computers but exactly why i am going the route i am, based on valid points here reinforcing mine as well. I will be looking for a 1st gen most likely. I loved this 2nd gen and had nothing but positive things however while i dont have numbers Im still convinced they wont come near what i could have sold it for.
    So best guesses?
Its a 2014 DCSB trd OFf Road, 111000 miles, dark grey, TRD supercharger, power everything, i dont think any of this will make a difference but, bs 3” lift level kit (i think low range), 95% 285 nitto terra grappler, 17” aftermarket wheels, 3k worth of jl 10” sub, custom box, amp, hertz speakers in door, single din head unit w ipad.

I say they will come back $15,500
This is travelers doing the claim.

I would be scared my insurance wouldn’t cover it because I intentionally drove it in there to begin with.

Hope you get a high price . Have you seen the prices of used trucks let alone Tacomas!!! They are crazy high. Almost pushes you into new ones(if u can find one).

Spitdog Im not sure if ur incinuating i knew the water was that deep and i intentionally tried to do this but that was not the case, and would make that an ignorant comment.

Don't know how many times I have told people to NOT cross any water, until you have walked it first.

That was a truthful concern I had, Your off road, saw a flooded area, and drove through it anyway. I see a difference if you were on a flooded street. Idk, I don’t have a clue what an adjuster would say.
But there has to be some guidelines I would think or we could all go drive though a deep hole and get a new truck. Like I said IDK. Good luck.

Just have a carvana quote (minus the water damage) for comparison. They should give you a lot more than 15 for a 2014 so long as your situation is a covered incident.

Assuming they total it. I’ll guess $22K. Price is Right rules. I got $15K for a 10 year old Highlander (Limited) with 120K miles.

Googling "How to find deleted posts on the internet?" is pretty easy. Even an insurance company adjuster could do it. I'm sure an insurance company investigator would know how. No need to get the CIA involved.

Wow, bummer, that's one hell of a hole! As others said, remove the supercharger, file a claim. And as said, you've got an automatic transmission full of water and this will likely kill the friction material on the clutches, and or the glue. Plus all of the possible future electrical problems. I wouldn't want to keep it if this was me.
