Only in providing information that I can find evidence that is correct. I would feel real bad if I said something and it caused damage to someone else's car. You can call it obsessive.

This is for those like you to what you have no knowledge to what you speak. This is a cobra oil pan but it doesn't matter they all fill the same way. They made a movie...hmmm what was it? Oh yea dumb and dumber Jim Cary was funny just like this thread is becoming.

That is excellent for a cobra oil pan. They are not all the same size. So sorry try again. Why don't you go home take your Tacoma oil pan off the truck and perform the same test. Then post your results. It might be believable at that time.

No cookie right now. I just some some of these

After seeing that info a few years ago I used to fill my cobra up with 6.5 quarts in between the 6 and 7 quarts recommended on svtp. However, this is a tacoma.

I dont see how bringing up some information about a totally different make and model has anything to do with our trucks. Just because it works on one vehicle doesnt make it safe for another.

If I can find one I would do that. Unfortunately they aren't the easiest to find.

Ah so it was ok for your stang but not your taco? Thanks for being irrelevant.

So next time someone asks what size tires they can fit on a stock tacoma should i bring up the tundra? Or maybe the cobra?

Next time someone asks what gains an intake and catback will make on a tacoma i'll just post some pics of a cobra dyno sheet.

By your argument if its good for one totally different vehicle it must be good for a tacoma correct. Who needs actual tests or proof?

Im not saying your opinion is wrong however, the only evidence we've seen so far is that as stated in the owners manual, overfilling may cause damage.

You just proved my point. The pan is open. When you overfill the level rises above the pan. The Tacoma pan doesn't hold 9 quarts.

2010 Tacoma 4 cyl. The manual calls for 6.1 quarts. I run Amsoil and take the oil to the dealership for changing. In order these are the amounts the dealership has used after each changing. 5 quarts, 5 1/2 quarts, 6 quarts, 5 1/2 quarts. The dealership cannot/will not give me a direct answer for the discrepancy. Yesterday I had the oil changed at a local garage. They used only 5 quarts. Other posts have mentioned "dip stick" problems. Evidently that must be the case with my Tacoma.

Thats the dealership being lazy. oil is ordered in the parts section and pumped at the stall, sometimes multiple mech use the same oil line. we do not have that problem because we only have 2 guys dedicated to oil changes. that would explain the different amounts at your dealership. as far as charging for that, it would be them guessing hte amounts vs looking it up. We have print outs for years and engine sizes so we dont have to guess, or memorize to save time.

Anything wrong with using a 1/2 quart of full synthetic Walmart Super Tech oil? I use Mobile one 5qt bottle but threw in the 1/2 quart supertech at $2 and change as opposed to $6 and change for name brand.
