I have 2 AALs, and Bilstein 5125's. You can hover over my badge at the bottom as well.

It has some squat... I think I had like 4 inches in the back and 3 in in the fron beforehand. Now I have 5 inches in the front and 4 inches in the back. I have to get some shackles now... lol

At first it was real stiff, but it has sagged in the last year. I would say I am happy with them the way they are now.

I want to box the rear and do the spring over at some point, so I might try to wait til then to upgrade to a true leaf pack.

I would stay soa and just upgrade it that way. @5 Lug Fury went soa and ran into a number of issues with axel wrap.

I had axle wrap before my AALs. Not sure about @5 Lug Fury, but it's because mine are 18 yo and worn... lots of towing on this truck in its 280k mi lifetime.

I guess what I am saying is that you can get axle wrap either way, its just more of a problem with spring-over than spring-under. I dont think you would have any issues with some brand new alcans and spring over setup. There are many Prerunner and 4x4 Tacomas with that kind of setup.

I also had another idea regarding the heim rod end conversion on the strut bar. Instead of going with heims... I was thinking Johnny joints or Creeper joints might be a better idea. You would still have to get them customized, but I might explore this some more.

Yeah it was mainly because I removed my overload spring making them pretty soft.

I guess I was having more of a wheel hop than axle wrap before adding the AALs, but I think they are kind of related. I didn't remove my overloads but I definitely thought about it. That's good to know.

Sure can, It would only be limited by imagination! I love hiems and can get them in very large sizes but roller bearings are very slick aswell. That said Total Chaos gets away with greased poly and nobody complains, they have an option for big ballers to use adjustable heims though too. How much do you want to spend really, as either will do the job but one is much more precise, they both need to be cleaned and lubed though. I’ve made custom suspension for years & w/leaves I’ve seen mucho axle wrapo, leafs are great but in a perfect world they should have been phased out by now, shoot Deaver leafs slapped leaves on the real Bonnie and Clydes ride, I visited their shop & that shop is as old as leaf springs too. Tech that truly came from horse and buggy. Give me some ideas of what you guys need and the problem that needs solving, and I can get the 5 lug trucks kicking again. BTW I am not bashing either companies both are excellent and have great reputations and I use their products.

@Luv my yota , I roughly measured the dimensions of the existing bushing, but didn't write it down. Basically what I was thinking is if you could find an existing weld on "rock end, johnny joint, creeper joint, etcc" that fits the same dimensions, you could just cut the old bushing off and weld the new end on. Only thing would be keeping the length the same, or maybe you make it adjustable.

It would be building off this idea, but using the Johnny Joints (or equivalent) instead.

I'll get the dimensions and post them here when I get a chance.

It hit 105 here today, and I have to install some tierods. I can relate to that strategy.
