Yup its a 3" lift kit. i called asking if they can make it for a coilover setup instead of bags. they had no problem doing so. they actually have quite a few different lift kits, even shackles.

But how do you plan on mounting your coil over on the top? Are coil buckets are designed to support a coil over

Those lower arms... I get it now! It looks like they are longer because the strut rod has a separate mount. Your photos are much better... btw.

Thanks for taking a bold step and giving this a shot. I wonder if they sell a lot of kits for our trucks. You may be the first to post photos to the internet. I couldn't find any when I looked.

@Sperrunner ive posted up quite a few options like this, There is also a QA1 version that is a twin tube design and ridetech also offers rebould adjustable shocks so you can keep the separate coil shock setup. They all bolt on with a Trunnion mount just like all stock billys.

The best option would be to go with some real coilovers. You'll have endless options on the top mount as well.

I am attempting to modify bilstein shocks using a 'gixxer drew' setup. I plan on doing some measuring with a digital caliper once I get the coils out of the buckets, again. I am hoping the inner diameter of a 2.5" (65mm) coilover spring will clear the inside wall of the buckets, but that's probably wishful thinking. The Downey coils were 2.7" (70mm) ID on the bottom and 3.3" (85mm) ID on the top. Thats a pretty non-standard size, making them incompatible with current universal coilover adjusters. Tein makes some tapered coils that were close and would probably work, but I needed better measurements of the coil bucket either way.

    My backup plans are:
    • finding a way to space the coilover top hats away from the coil bucket and use them
    • convert the stud mount to eyelet mount and convert the shaft to eye
    • buy new coil springs from tein
    • use downey coils with adapter ring to widen out bottom perch

... i am sure i can come up with more.

I am waiting on Bilstein still, and I have pretty much decided to just tear it apart and see what happens.

@TacoBunny , I am anxious to see pictures of this kit installed. Good Luck!

The top of our coil bucket isn’t smooth, there is a ridge inside. Which will make it kind of hard to mount the top of a standard coil over to.

I have the Daystar poly leveling spacers, and I also picked up some energy suspension coilover spring isolators. I am hoping with enough parts laying around... something will work!

This is how a normal coil over mount in a 6lug, nice and flush with the 3 bolts to mount a coil over and the center one for the shock. This is why when doing a LT kit you have to chop of the coil bucket to mount a different style. Also you do it cause it needs to be higher for longer travel shocks.

Yeah, I have thought about this quite a bit actually. One of my other ideas was to cut a circle out of sheet metal and drill a hole in the center to make the coil bucket flat at the top.

In theory that could provide additional lift

You might want to just look into modifying a coil over spacing first. Would be cheaper that way you dont need to get actual coil overs. You also need to take in consideration that they don’t mount at a 90 degree angle. There is a set amount of off set to allow for proper travel.

Also what you sent almost seems to look like what the downey kit achieved with its mid travel kit. With a kinda semi coil over but not a true coil over

Correct, coilovers cost more money than I want to spend. I am attempting to mimic the downey kit with universal or easily-made bolt-on parts.

If you can actually get me exact measurements of the coil bucket and i can measure some other stuff i have a buddy that can 3d print things and we can set up a jig to test ideas before cutting metal
Ge would change for the work though
